Default Leaked Housemates?

Why do all the leaked housemates have already a "claim to fame"
? i thought big brother was supposed to be "normal" people in an enclosed enviroment not extra exposure for already fame hungry wannabes? you've got
1/Adam the westlife brother
2/ Shelly Shourt Graces cousin
3/Jill Demeril had an affair with that guy from blue then sold her story (nice)
why do these people deserve a place in the house just because they have famous relatives or slept with famous singers i think its wrong there were sooooooo many brilliant "normal" people at the auditions that didn't have a claim to fame, had normal everyday jobs but were absolutely brilliant and i bet they did not get put in the final line up
swines lol

Because BB is no longer a social experiment, it is a popularity show, and the media think the public will find more interest if the series begins, where a person already has a newspaper worthy story.
Think of it as a school lesson. Those with no imagination use cleches to write about, that is essentially what has happened to BB.

Aren't the keen majority of BB applicants wannabes anyway?

The reason why I mentioned who my brother was because at an audition with a lot of big characters I thought what I could say about was something unique. In hindsight I regret it, but I dont think it makes me anymore of a 'wannabe' then anyone else that auditioned!

Depends how you classify a 'wannabe'. I will audition next year. I don't want fame, I want my old job back, and want no exposure. It is a social experiment for me to see if I can be popular. I'm sure that many have the same motives.

I've honestly been a fan of the show since the first series and would too go on it for the experience alone, but if you want to go on it for the social experiment aspect you wont get on, and it's nothing to do with you personally.. BB has changed unfortunately. You've got to be loud, brash and maybe have a brother in, I dont know, Take That?! Haha..

Despite everyone moaning about wannabes if a bunch of plastics engineers or IT systems analysts or accountants went on the show just as a social experiment people would then moan it was boring.

Look at boring Suzy Verruca.

Definitely if a bunch of people went on who fit your description above, it would be very boring. Problem is they are ALL wannabes and seem to be cut from the same cloth. It would be interesting to have maybe one accountant, since this is so unusual for BB. I am sick of the 'I am a singer, I am a model', as the standard job on BB. You can be guaranteed about 75% will have some link to the 'popular mainstream culture'.

Housemates are generally blasted when they mention, "they're not in it to be famous". The general reaction is, "then why Big Brother?" and as genuine as you may be about wanting to do it for the experience people will always think you have an alterior motive.

Big Brother 1 was a social experiment.
Big Brother 2 onwards.... an entertainment programme.

You would think what with the auditions attracting so many people they would at least find enough "normal" people so to speak to fill the BB house.

They did. It was called Big Brother 4 and wasn't very successful!
