They are probably told to cheer and try and make the situation as comftable for the evictee as possible. But I don't see why anyone in such a small quiet area would boo anyway, especially with the housemate there.

I agree. They get a harsh enough reception from the crowd without getting one from the audience too.

i think they cheer because it a smaller area, in the crowd the hm wont spot out whos booing them but in the studio it would be wierd as there there for a long time!

I read somewhere that they usually choose fans of the evictee to be in the studio...or at least for one situation for Vanessa BB5.
