Default My hair straighteners

Yesterday I straightened my hair before school and because I was in a rush I forgot to switch them off. I came home and theres a burn in the carpet but i'm not too bothered about the carpet, i'm too scared to try them incase something bad happens to me or the straighteners wimp I know but does anyone know if it's broken the straighteners?

Just be careful with them if they are a little burnt, they could be damaged and over heat easily. I had GHD straighteners that actually set on fire in my hand! would never buy them again, I get ones that are cheaper (a little) but do the same if not better job.
