tbh anyone who isnt revolted and sickened by it needs to find a heart
it is one of the saddest things i have heard and cant comprehend how the 'parents' (in the loosest term cos they dont deserve that title) could do it
then there is the serious failing on social services part (they saw him 60 times but didnt act once)

basically the baby was on the watch list with social services they visited 60 times but everytime didnt act the baby was killed (its parents and lodger at the flat are on trial for it)
he had multiple injuries including many broken and fractured bones and he died from his spine being broken
they showed a body map of his injuries with everyone being a grey patch and he had more patches of grey that the white they used for uninjured parts
he was 17 months old and cant have known any real love in his short life

The post-mortem examination revealed Baby P had suffered:
• Eight broken ribs and a broken back, with another area of bleeding around the spine at neck level.
• Numerous bruises, cuts and abrasions, including a deep tear to his left ear lobe, which had been pulled away from his head.
• Severe lacerations to the top of his head, including a large gouge which could have been caused by a dog bite.
• Blackened finger- and toenails, with several nails missing; the middle finger of his right hand was without a nail and its tip was also missing, as if it had been sliced off.
• A tear to his fraenulum, the strip of skin between the middle of the upper lip and the gum, which had partially healed.
• One of his front teeth had also been knocked out and was found in his colon. He had swallowed it.

Im also annoyed at that so called child minder who was interviewed for itv news the other day.I would love to know why she appeared to be so calm and unaffected by it,there was no emotion whatsoever. She says she contacted social services several times but for gods sake why didn`t she just go straight to the police!?

And now theres another failing of the social services system and the NHS, this time in Manchester. 2 babies have been killed by their mum, the doctor knew her behaviour was slightly odd but never did anything.

What are these so called professionals doing with their time, and how the hell do they sleep at night knowing that if they made just 1 phone call, it could save someones life.

I cant even read the stories because it upsets me so much I burst into tears.

My children are my soul and my life. How anyone can torture an innocent child is beyond my thinking.

I can feel the tear welling up even as i type this

I find it unbelievable that the authorities can let this kind of tihng happen. Police had not wanted this child returned to his family 10 days before he died, solicitors felt they did not have enough grounds to keep him away from his family.

Its a delicate issue. To simply blame the Social services is not the answer. The couple clearly took steps to try and fool the social worker into thinking the child was fine; given that I dont think the social worker could have done much. The bias is not to split up child and parent.

Having said that, the people who did this should receive the maximum sentence available. This kind of crime sickens me

But what's odd is that there's this see-sawing argument about the proper role or social services. Some say they don't go far enough otheres say too far. Not less than a week ago there was a thread here about how social services not only over reacts and split families but they do it to fill quotas for adoption agencies. On the other side there's the same kind of rubbish eg the social service people are evil or "crazy".

I agree with what you say Ange7 I myself am in general a big advocate of social workers being allowed to do their jobs. This is a case of the system failing as opposed to individuals.
