RUTH BLOW
X Factor beauty Ruth Lorenzo is bitterly disappointed after show bosses stopped her singing for a charity to raise cash for starving kids in Africa.

Ruth, 25, had promised the Kids For Kids organisation she would perform at their Christmas concert in London on December 10 to help buy blankets and mosquito nets for children in war-torn Darfur.

But X Factor bosses told the charity the Spanish beauty would not be allowed to sing.

They also barred Ruth from becoming a national figurehead for the charity and said she could only work for them at a regional level.

Kids For Kids founder Patricia Parker said: "Ruth is not allowed to do anything in a big way for us .

"It's a shame the public won't get to know what a kind person she is.

"I thought The X Factor would be thrilled that one of their contestants is doing something so selfless. It's surprising."

When Ruth first got involved with the charity she said: "I know what it is like to live in a hot country and yet need a blanket at night.

An X Factor spokeswoman said: "While Ruth is in the show she is contractually obliged to it. We can't let anything get in the way of filming."

Meanwhile Ruth has taken up running to boost her lung capacity after Take That's Gary Barlow and Mark Owen said it would help her sing.

I don't understand why they won't let her do this. She won't make any money from it. Unless they are afraid her doing such a noble thing might influence the votes in some way.

It's a shame though, because it's a very worthy cause.
