The Sun can reveal the former 80s singer is leading the voting “by a country mile”, say show insiders.
It is a major shock for fans of ex-EastEnder Joe Swash, who has been the bookies’ favourite for days.
But camp David’s outrageous antics have endeared him to the ITV1’s 10million viewers, who are hitting the phones to keep him in.
A source said: “David is far ahead of everyone in the voting.
“He has been getting lots of votes since he arrived and they have been increasing steadily. Lots of people have assumed the jungle crown is Joe’s but at the moment that is not the case.”
Dollar star David, 53, has been the focus of attention since arriving as an “intruder” by winding up virtually everyone.
