The Christmas show will air at peak voting time between the X Factor and its results programme.
So when Cheryl, 25, asked if she could also urge millions of viewers to support her performers, TV bosses flatly refused — citing strict rules.
Cheryl is mentor to Sun-backed favourite Alexandra Burke, 20, and Diana Vickers, 17.
The Girls Aloud Party show, which will be aired on December 13, features the Kaiser Chiefs, Paul O’Grady, Cilla Black and Corrie legend Julie Goodyear.
Judging by our pictures from filming yesterday, it should be a glittering occasion.
