BBUK is in it's tenth year this year as it launched in 2000. But the Big Brother format launched in 1999 making it 2009 it's 11th year.

But, BB isn't a child.

A child celebrates it's 1st birthday a year after it was born. But BB had it 1st series in 2000, and will have it's 10th in 2009. That's that.

Its stupid to says BB was in its first year when BB2 launched. 10 series in 10 years. Simple.

I think you'll find 2009 is. Your birthday celebrates the END of that year of your life, not the start. Therefore, if Big Brother's 10th birthday is next year, the year preceeding it, is it's 10th year .

But technically, your both right. Since BB didn't start till July, it's 10th year doesn't start till July and doesn't end till next July.

Though Arneldo said, it's a TV show, so a series per year, 10th series = 10 years.
