Default Do you think that racism is taken way too seriously sometimes?

Ok I know some of you will be like wtf its not taken seriously enough but in schools I think they are way to defensive about it. Like this week, in my year at school there has been like 3 or 4 fights, in one of which someone broke their thumb and had to go to hospital and then this one boy said something about black to another boy. out of all of this one of the boys got permanently expelled. This was the boy who said something like "black mother****er".

Anyway that's not the only reason. I have seen it in other ways too! Like I really really don't get how saying "****" is racist when British are called "Brits" and Americans get called "yanks" etc!
I am not trying to cause a fight or anything but does anyone agree with me?
