Both videos, they are supposed to be dancing same steps. I am trying to dance like the couple, the second video.

Sequence dancers' average age is in their eighties.
Also as you can see in the video, normally anywhere we go, there are more ladies than gentlemen, so I learn male steps and often dance with ladies.


Ballroom (Modern) - Waltz, Foxtrot, Quicksteps, Tango, Viennese Waltz
(Latin) - Rumba, Cha cha, Jive, and I do some Samba and hardly dance Paso Doble (too shy to dance in public - if you do not do it properly, it's better not to do it at all, and none of social dancers (we are) dance properly.)

My friend Yko and I are going to Cardiff for an afternoon tea dance (next month) stay over night.

Typical "tea dance" will be half Modern, half Latin and few sequence dance.

I love how it looks like they're almost gliding across the floor in the 2nd one.

Are you good at waltzes? And do you practice much?

Yes, I could dance Modern dance quite well including waltz but Latin, we need to have basic ballet skills if we want to dance well, and I do not have such skills. I have been dancing Latin (and Modern) for nearly forty years, but I feel my Latin style is so limited I am afraid.

Modern dances, we could get away without ballet training, to some extent, as long as we practise well and I think I did.

Recent years, I only practise "Sequence dancing". But now I am retired and have plenty of time, so I am thinking of having ballroom dancing (Modern and Latin) lessons.

The reason ballroom dancers start to dance sequence dance is one of big reason is strength.
Our feet, knee's strength is getting weak even pain and can not hold ourselves like we used to be.
Then sequence dance does not need much effort to dance, so, many dancers turn to sequence when they are getting older.

I was chatting to somebody the other day at dancing, the person proudly told me, he would never dance sequence but he is just lucky to have a good health.

These dancers are dancing competition routines - show piece.

Ordinal dancers who dance socially dance very basic routine.
But if these trained dancers dance basic routine, their movement is like dream.
