I'm sick of him playing the soppy love interest. Give him a new role.

He gets the same roles yet he is actually a very good actor. Shame on the writers not making use of his acting abilities and placing him in a different role.

I wasn't a fan of this episode, it's too late in the game to introduce a new player and his introduction completely overshadowed other story lines. It felt like the writers suddenly realised that they didn't have enough story and they've just thrown together NPH's character to fill up time.

I knew it would come to the point where the freaks all lynch mob Elsa.

The last two episodes are what I expected the season to be overall. But it was a good 7 or 8 episodes of slow paced irrelevance really to get to it.

NPH's character was pretty much the only good thing about the last 2 episodes. The other stories seem to have gotten lost and don't know what they're doing. Dandy is annoying as ****.

I honestly would accept this episode as the finale.

I would accept this as the mid-season finale. We should have left off here instead of sitting through an hour of Pepper having a sad life I'm glad the tone of the show has changed back to more of a familiar AHS style of lots of action and genuine horror, but it's much too little too late. Thus they're going the Coven route of unsatisfactorily ending plots and killing people off in ways that do not logically make sense. Things that don't make sense this week:

Why did Elsa give Stanley the chance to blurt out that she killed Ethel? She has proven to be much more clever than that. Same with Stanley. He could have easily bought himself some time by coming clean about Ethel right away, like any sane person would - especially someone as cunning and perceptive as him. Why did the freaks all of a sudden turn on Elsa btw? Stanley in desperation blurts it out, so then they all unanimously just come to their senses and turn on their fairy godmother? Ummm she literally tried to murder Paul a while back just cuz she was in a mood, but that wasn't worthy of mob justice? She could also easily explain the situation now, seeing as Ma Petite's body is floating in a jar somewhere and Elsa shot the man who killed her in revenge, since Ethel's reason for trying to kill her was because she thought Elsa killed Ma Petite. And omg at that ****ty scene with Bette and Dot warning Elsa... why the **** would they do that? Makes zero sense, she did not save you, she literally human trafficked you into the arms of a crazy person because one of you can sing well. No one in that camp would have warned Elsa, so she should have had to escape herself by piecing it together before the freaks could get her. A good scene to close the episode with could have been sort of like the Stanley scene at the beginning, but resulting in her successfully fleeing to Hollywood and taking out some of the ingrates with her throwing knives.

But the thing that pisses me off most about tonight's episode is Maggie's death. First of all, it made zero sense. She just happily jumps into a box with a saw wielding weirdo who second earlier openly expressed his desire to saw the twins into two..... and then she expresses mild concern as it becomes even more obvious that he is literally going to saw her in half, and the freaks stand five feet away doing nothing. Secondly, this is the second ****ing year in a row they kill Emma Roberts off in a totally nonsensical way. At least it wasn't as bad as last year, when she just kind of forgot that she was basically the Supreme (oh no I can't tell who owned this brooch!) and let Kyle murder her instead of lighting him on fire, or throwing him against the wall, or controlling his mind. Ugh.

I really don't understand how the people who made the masterpieces that are Murder House and Asylum can write **** like Coven and Freak Show

It was a better episode than last week's although I'm tired of the freaks just killing whoever they want at the drop of a hat, having them turn on Elsa just felt rushed. Aside from that though I liked it despite the other silly plot points and I think we're heading to a pretty decent finish.

This series has had it's problems but at least it's an improvement over Coven.

Caught up on the latest two episodes yesterday. I'm usually fine with gore in TV / movies, but
Spoiler:

Maggie's
death squicked me out ... so they clearly did their job right.

Put that in a spoiler because I'm not sure if this thread is for US or UK pace.

Ryan Murphy is planning a "large reinvention" for the fifth season of American Horror Story, according to FX CEO John Landgraf.

Landgraf revealed at the TCA winter press tour that the new season will be "completely different" than previous outings.

"I know what it is, but I can't [say]," he told TV Line. "I have to let [series boss] Ryan [Murphy] do his thing on that. But it's very different."

"One of the things I love so much about that is that it can be radically, radically reinvented in terms of tone, setting, period, characters, cast.

"I think there's going to be an unusually large reinvention in between Book 4 and Book 5 relative to, say, between Book 3 [Coven] and 4 [Freak Show]."

Landgraf also hinted that the anthology would return to the present day, before admitting that he doesn't know if Jessica Lange will be returning.

"Ryan is really, really independent in how he makes these shows and what he does. So I know the setting, I know something about the characters and something about the tone and the time period, but I don't actually know the cast yet," he said.

American Horror Story airs on FOX in the UK and on FX in the US.

I hope it's a present day series, I personally prefer them to the ones set in the past, I think a summer camp would be really good or maybe something post Chernobyl with mutant cannibals

a saw a thread on IMDB a while ago about an idea for season 5 and it was amazing

i can't find it now but it was s/t like it would be set in an orphanage and the main antagonist of the season would be a bogeyman/evil warlock type character that would haunt the children in their dreams and manipulate them into doing things in the real world like murdering people/performing a ritual to bring him back to earth

An orphanage would be a bit too much like asylum for my liking, plus you'd have to have a load of child actors and they're usually ****

I've been trying to work out clues for Season 5. I looked online and a lot of people seem to be focusing on a top hat theme running throughout Freak Show, so quite a lot of people thought Season 5 would be set around an army experiment called Operation Top Hat, but that happened in 1953 which is (a: not present day, b: only a year after Freak Show).

I kind of hope Jessica doesn't come back for S5, i'd like to see what they'd do without her, plus I'm kind of over her playing a washed out old bitch wanting to kill the better looking/talented younger version of her, it's been the same near enough for all 4 seasons
