Quote:
It is understood that the BBC is now investigating some 20 members of staff for alleged sexual misconduct.

George Entwistle, the BBC’s new director-general, told MPs last month that between eight and 10 former and current BBC staff and contributors had been named as alleged perpetrators of sexual abuse.

A BBC spokesman said: “All new allegations are passed to the BBC Investigations Unit or to the police as appropriate. Numbers will fluctuate both up and down as new allegations are made and investigated.

“Once they have been investigated – either resulting in further action or the matter being cleared and resolved – the cases will be closed.”
How can cases "resulting in further action" be closed ?

Exclamation Yorkshire Ripper: Savile is innocent

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...#ixzz2BOjTfzPQ

Quote:
YORKSHIRE Ripper Peter Sutcliffe insists his old mate Jimmy Savile is innocent — and the paedophile DJ’s hundreds of victims are “jumping on the bandwagon”.

Sutcliffe, befriended by Savile during his Broadmoor visits, said on a tape leaked to The Sun: “It’s a load of rubbish. People are just getting carried away.”

Serial killer Sutcliffe claims Savile is being victimised — by the hundreds of tormented individuals who are revealing how the vile DJ abused them.

Sutcliffe even claimed he could personally vouch for his mate.

Speaking on the tape, he said: “I can’t fault him from my experiences of what he was like. I don’t care what these people who are coming out of the woodwork are saying.

“He visited a lot. He’d always come and chat with me on visits and I would introduce him to my visitors. Several times he left £500 for charities I was supporting. He wrote cheques out on the spot, a very generous man he was.”

Savile is accused of having abused more than 300 youngsters - including molesting a teenage female Broadmoor patient. But Sutcliffe, who murdered and mutilated 13 women, poured scorn on the claims of those Savile attacked.

He said: “Coming forward after 40 or 50 years or whatever, they are jumping on the bandwagon.

“It only takes a couple of rumours and then it goes like wildfire. I don’t believe he raped anyone. I think he kissed quite a few young women but that’s as far as he’s gone.

“It’s just going crazy, they love to savage people who are dead, people who can’t hit back — or prisoners who can’t reply.”

Sutcliffe also dismissed claims that Savile, who died last year aged 84, molested a 1970s Broadmoor patient during his many visits to the secure hospital.

On the tape he tells a pal, who has asked to remain anonymous: “Oh that’s a load of rubbish. It’s a load of crap.

“People were always there. He was never alone with anybody, there were always people about. He never did anything at Broadmoor.

“They are just getting carried away — going right over the top.”

The tape provides further disturbing evidence of the close links between Savile and Sutcliffe.

Serial killer expert David Wilson has already called for an inquiry into whether the pair knew each other before Sutcliffe was caught.

It came after The Sun revealed Sutcliffe killed third victim Irene Richardson yards from Savile’s flat in Roundhay, Leeds, in 1977.
A glowing testimonial from the Yorkshire Ripper .....

But maybe he has a point, how many of these making claims are just hoping to cash in?

Mr Saville is not around to defend himself

Technically Jimmy Savile is innocent of any of these alleged crimes as our system of law works under the premise innocent until proven guilty.

We are never going to be able to bring any prosecutions as Mr Savile is no longer alive and as such he will never be convicted of any offence.

So regardless of the fact that over 900 alleged victims think he is guilty, most of his friends and family, vast swathes of the Public here and abroad, the unpalatable fact is in the eyes of the law he is innocent. Because of this I think his estate beneficiaries will be successful in fighting off any litigation resulting from these sexual abuse allegations.

This story will eventually die when another major scandal attracts the media's attention.

What's a "vast swathe", numerically?

There is only 1 major estate beneficiary, an institution which will receive £3.7m of the £4.3m estate, £600,000 goes into a trust fund for a further 8 beneficaries, who will receive interest only, and the remaining "bits and pieces", worth £20k, go to family and friends.

The possibility of offshore funds belonging to Savile's estate is being investigated.

Yes Omah, you have clearly been doing your homework, I think the Nat West Bank is the main beneficiary and as such they will fight tooth and nail to receive this money. Since they will receive a fairly large payment when they distribute to the various charities under their control.

I fear you are ill-informed ..... the bulk of Savile's known estate - just under £3.7 million - was held by NatWest on behalf of the Jimmy Savile Charitable Trust - I doubt that a bank can extract more than charges from an organisation which is being wound up and over which they have NO control, since, AFAIK, they are neither trustee nor executor.

I don't think Savile and The Ripper will have been linked in any murders before meeting at Broadmoor. Those types of serial killers rarely have an accomplice.

Arrow Jimmy Savile was quizzed over Yorkshire Ripper murders

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz2BTDDY7xr

Quote:
A former detective who helped catch the Yorkshire Ripper has revealed Jimmy Savile was quizzed over the serial murderer's crimes.

Former West Yorkshire detective John Stainthorpe told ITV Calendar News that Savile was brought in for questioning after members of the public contacted the police naming the eccentric DJ as a possible killer.

Mr Stainthorpe, who worked for the West Yorkshire force for more than 40 years, and who spent years trying to catch Peter Sutcliffe, told Calendar: 'When the Ripper was really active one of the suspects put forward by members of the public was Jimmy Savile, strange as it may seem.

'Obviously it was not him, but he was interviewed along with many others, as you can appreciate.'

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: 'Hundreds of people were identified in the operation, we cannot be more specific than that at this time.

'Details of all who were questioned in connection with the crimes are in storage, so we cannot confirm that Jimmy Savile was spoken to.'

Mr Stainthorpe said the person who gave police the anonymous tip-off was 'aiming in the right direction'.

'Child perverts soon become child killers,' he added.

Exclamation Jimmy Savile: Linked to North Wales child abuse scandal

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...e-scandal.html

Quote:
Boys were reportedly molested to entertain Savile at Bryn Estyn care home in Wrexham, North Wales.

One victim said he was raped repeatedly by deputy head of the home Peter Howarth.

He said that he and other boys would also have their pyjama bottoms pulled down by Howarth for Savile's entertainment.

The boy, known as "Ben" said that Savile would regularly visit the care home with his brother in a chauffeured limousine.

Boys would be taken to visit him at Howarth's flat if they behaved well.

The victim told The Sun newspaper: "Howarth pulled down my pyjama bottoms in front of Savile. I was helpless as Jimmy watched.

He thought it funny entertainment. This happened to a number of boys."

As a somewhat sane human being, I am having difficulty getting my head around this. (thank god) How can someone with eyes, lips, nose....a human as I be capable of such monstrosity. What kind of person do you have to be to enjoy watching other monsters hurt poor, little defenseless children and class as it as entertainment, then go out to the world and swagger and smile for photos as if you're a normal human being. How did you sleep that night after you heard those group of boys cry out pain that they were hurting? How did that noise now torment you all night or even during the act?
This rise in pedophiles makes me not want to have children. Or at least birth them in a world where they can be by my side every second of the day, 24/7/ Home schooling is looking like a better idea more and more too.

Thumbs up Nephew calls for paedophile to be exhumed and cremated

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz2BYxtAw87

Quote:
The nephew of paedophile Jimmy Savile has said that his uncle's body should be exhumed from its grave overlooking the North Sea.

Guy Marsden, son of Savile's sister Marjorie, thinks that the pervert should be removed from Scarborough cemetery and cremated.

Mr Marsden says other family members probably agree with him, adding it would spare anguish for victims or others who have loved-ones buried at Woodlands Cemetery, he told Sky News.

Mr Marsden said: 'If it is causing heartache and pain we would definitely go along with the people of Scarborough and the people whose loved ones are buried there.

'My own personal view, and I could say that of a lot of my family, would be that if it comes to it where he has to be moved, let's get it moved. Let's get it done.'

He has already told the Mail that his celebrity uncle attended ‘paedophile parties’ when he was 13 and Guy and his friends went to numerous events where he believes men sexually abused girls and boys as young as ten.

Several families of people buried in the council-owned cemetery say they do not want his body to remain in its prime position above all the other graves at the top of the hill.

Scarborough Cemetery isn’t a churchyard but Scarborough Borough Council officials have confirmed that the area where Jimmy Savile is buried is consecrated.

Permission to remove the body of the disgraced showbiz star would have to be granted by Church of England Judge Canon Peter Collier QC, who would have to weigh any 'potential benefit' against the 'Christian theology of the permanence of burial'.

Exclamation Jimmy Savile: More links between paedo and Ripper emerge

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...#ixzz2BafvqG3k

Quote:
PRESSURE was growing last night for police to probe the emerging links between pervert DJ and Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe.

They include the fact cops hunting the prostitute slayer took a cast of Savile’s TEETH — most likely to check against bite marks on victims.

Sutcliffe NAMED Savile in police interviews and two of his victims were FOUND near Savile’s flat. The TV star VISITED Sutcliffe in prison soon after his conviction and they were seen as FRIENDS during his later trips to Broadmoor Hospital.

Now questions are being asked over whether they may have known each other BEFORE the murderer was locked up.

The making of a cast of Savile’s teeth was revealed by ex-model and Benny Hill girl Nikki Critcher, who had become friends with Harley Street dentist Dr Mace Joffe around 1980.

Nikki, now a mum of three who has trained as a lawyer, said: “Mace was called up by police and used to keep us updated. He told us he had to go up to Leeds and take a cast of Jimmy Savile’s teeth.

“He said he had been told by the police that Savile was known to them for using prostitutes and that he had been a potential suspect.”

Former Page 3 girl Nikki added: “We were amazed. We didn’t think he’d be the sort — he was doing all his charity work and things.” South African-born Dr Joffe died in 2003.

Two hookers believed to be Ripper victims had bites on their breasts. Sutcliffe denied killing one of them, but detectives at the time reckoned he was lying to cover for an accomplice.
There's probably no substance in the implication, but .....

Default Freddie Starr cancels show 'to concentrate on defending sex abuse allegations'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz2BdCf94bg

Quote:
Freddie Starr has cancelled a performance to concentrate on defending allegations that he molested a schoolgirl in Jimmy Savile’s BBC dressing room, it emerged today.

Fans were expecting to see the comedian perform his Back From The Jungle Tour at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon, Wiltshire, tomorrow, despite his arrest on Thursday.

Only around 300 tickets - costing £19.50 - out of 635 had been sold for the event, which was due to start at 7.30pm.

But today Wyvern Theatre director Derek Aldridge said the show would not go on, following discussions with Starr and his team.

He said: 'Following the weekend, we have held further discussions with Freddie Starr and his management team and have agreed that the show will no longer take place at the Wyvern Theatre on Wednesday, November 7.

'Freddie apologises to the hundreds of loyal fans who had purchased tickets, but hopes they understand that he is concentrating on defending the allegations made against him.

'We will be contacting customers to refund their tickets.'

He denied the comedian was disappointed with ticket sales - or that the theatre had taken the decision unilaterally - and said the venue had not been contacted by fans angry about the allegations.
Starr's "shows" are, reportedly, so bad that the fans may be relieved to get their money back .....

Thumbs up Children's charity demands "overarching" Savile and North Wales inquiry

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wa...1466-32192311/

Quote:
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) spoke out after a series of probes were launched covering allegations surrounding Jimmy Savile, North Wales’s Bryn Estyn children’s home, and the grooming and sexual abuse of children in Rochdale and Rotherham.

Andrew Flanagan, NSPCC chief executive, said: “The NSPCC believes that the Government should now commit to an overarching ’lessons learned’ review to pull together the findings from all the current inquiries into child abuse, once they are completed.

“There is a need to ensure that the public has confidence that the numerous inquiries under way will result not only in justice for people who have suffered abuse, but in improvements to the way we protect today’s children.

“It’s vital any review puts the needs of victims right at its heart and ensures recommendations are implemented in full.

“Whilst the cases of Jimmy Savile, Bryn Estyn children’s home, and others, may appear to be quite different there will be similar failings, both from institutions and individuals.”

He added that “public and political opinion will shift in a similar way to that seen following the death of baby Peter Connelly,” who died in 2007 after horrendous abuse at home.

“We must maintain this momentum and use this opportunity to fundamentally change how we help children and young people to talk about abuse,” said Mr Flanagan.

“As a country, and individually, we should commit to helping young people speak out as soon as they fear they are at risk, or as soon as abuse starts, not months or even years later.

“Much has improved in recent years but the cases of grooming gangs in Rochdale, Rotherham and elsewhere show that major failures in child protection can and do still occur.

“Confidence in the system and the authorities’ ability to take action is at serious risk; we must now act decisively if we are to turn this around.”
Yeah, the proliferation of "independent" inquiries may hinder rather than help those trying to formalise and enhance procedures to assist children in need, unless the findings of those inquiries can be collated, verified and actioned .....

Exclamation Jimmy Savile: Former chauffeur arrested on suspicion of rape

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...n-of-rape.html

Quote:
Ray Teret, 71, was detained at his home in Altrincham, Cheshire on suspicion of rape.

A 61-year-old man was arrested at the same time and is also being questioned on suspicion of rape.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the allegations were not linked to the national investigation into abuse orchestrated by the late DJ and presenter Savile.

However the arrests follow three separate allegations that were reported to Greater Manchester Police in recent weeks since the Savile scandal erupted.

Detective Inspector Simon Davies of Greater Manchester Police said: “The arrest follows an investigation by the serious sexual offences unit into three separate allegations of historic sexual abuse which have been reported to Greater Manchester Police since October 28.

“I want to make it absolutely clear that this is not an investigation into the late Jimmy Savile, nor do any of the allegations relate to any involvement by Savile.

“The victims who have come forward have shown tremendous courage and our primary focus is to support these victims during what is clearly a very traumatic time for them. We have a duty to investigate their complaints thoroughly.”

Mr Teret worked as a pirate radio DJ in the North West in the 1960s and also had a show on Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio.

He and Savile became close friends when they worked together at Manchester’s Plaza dance hall.

They shared a flat together in Salford in the 1960s and Teret also acted as Savile’s driver.

The pair were so close that Teret would refer to Savile as ‘dad’ and the presenter would call him ‘son’.
What, who, where next .....
