I totally agree with your comments, this whole Jimmy Savile story is now starting to make me feel very uncomfortable. It truly is descending into a Witch hunt, because JS was a dirty old man who may have overstepped the mark (remember Nothing has been proven) the establishment feels noticeably embarrassed and are now looking for "live" scapegoats. The whole thing is becoming difficult to take seriously when we are fed reports that over 450 people where sexually abused raped,molested by this fiend...!!!!

Really...!!! slight over-exaggeration maybe ?? lets try and keep this story in perspective because if it continues to be overcooked like this then we may miss the real victims of JS actions the few he actually seriously abused.

As for looking for other friends of JS who knew him back then and putting two and two together to get five by creating allegations that they must have all been involved is simply outrageous slander.

Where's the proof.... in fact where's the proof in any of it ?? Most of it is Tabloid driven media hype designed to sell papers....!!!

AFAIK, ALL UK newspapers are covering the JS/BBC scandal, including not only what I would call tabloids :

• Daily Star
• Daily Mirror
• Daily Record
• The Sun

but also the compacts:

• Daily Express
• The Independent
• The Morning Star
• The Scotsman
• The Times
• Daily Mail

and even the broadsheets:

• The Daily Telegraph
• Financial Times

Whether they are selling more copies of each newspaper, I have no idea, but the "story" continues to be of mass worldwide interest on the internet, as evidenced by a simple Google search.

I think I've heard that particular sarcastic viewpoint several times before - it seems to me that it lacks credibility when the only posters using the words "guilty", "innocent" and "not guilty" along with the emotive descriptions "lynch-mobs" and "witch-hunts" are those apparently pleading in support of alleged sex-offenders while ignoring the cries of the truly innocent, the hundreds of violated children .....

I wonder if one day we'll discover Saville himself was abused as some abusers are victims of early abuse themselves.

Either way, even after all this time i'm still having difficulty wrapping my head around the fact that it was feasible for one human being to commit all these crimes so easily in "public". It's like a bad movie.

The BBC may axe its re-runs of classic editions of Top of the Pops on BBC4 as a result of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Vintage shows from the 1970s featuring the disgraced presenter have already been pulled from the schedule, and last week BBC4 shelved an episode presented by Dave Lee Travis after the DJ's arrest.

The BBC is currently airing editions of the chart show from 1977, but BBC4 controller Richard Klein said he had not decided whether to continue into 1978.

"It is complex and it is difficult to judge," Klein told a Broadcasting Press Guild lunch on Wednesday.

"These are judgments we are making on a case-by-case basis. It requires us to be cautious and careful without overreacting, to take into account public sensibilities and legalities, and hopefully we are going to get it right."

He added: "At the moment we actually haven't scheduled 1978, so we'll take a view. We have only done it the last two years [beginning with 1976] so if we didn't do it again it wouldn't be the end of the world and audience figures have declined quite markedly.

"It has done a good job, whether I choose to continue or not I don't yet know."

Asked whether the Savile fallout was a factor in his decision about the 1978 reruns, Klein said: "Of course it is. How else are we supposed to respond?"

It should be axed anyway - TOTP was 90% boring .....
