Default Why do they allow Sociopaths onto these shows?

Isn't there psychological screening of the housemates before they enter?
I'm not just talking about the UK version of Big Brother either.

What's really disturbing is that people will often reward the sociopaths by confusing their illness with 'entertainment' or strategy and therefore voting for them. Or perhaps it's a reflection of society today 'Broken Britain' etc, that people have become conditioned to root for sociopaths because that is what's presented in the media as cool; i.e what vapid celebs and bankers/rich folk get up to in news stories, and other such behavior.

Why would you publicly root for someone that lacks empathetic qualities towards others, and behaves in a Machiavellian fashion?

It's an entertainment show so I can understand the want for people with poor social skills and and narcissistic tendencies. They bitch, they lie, they cause drama, they pick fights with weaker housemates and then switch sides when it becomes advantageous to do so. They are just going to be far more entertaining than a person like me would be and I understand that.

But I agree with you, I don't like those people I described in 'real life' and I would never lift a finger to support them on the show either. In fact I've just flat out stopped watching it now because to me it pretty much resembles a circus show. That's not me knocking the show btw, it does what it does and I'm happy to accept that if that's what the majority of Big Brother fans want. I'm not even a reality tv fan tbh, I watched big brother as a teen as a way to get closer to my mum and It kinda stuck for a whole. So in weird circumstances I can understand being outspoken.

Kitten, although I'd say she was just mentally unstable.

Kitten wasn't mentally unstable (that I can remember?) she was just an immature trouble maker who went in with the intention of breaking the rules because she loves attention.

Hmm, I suppose. Victor saw it first hand and said she was mentally unstable, although he did hold a grudge against her when she branded him sexist. Can't you remember her 'Big Sister' speech in the diary room? She was saying there was a secret 13th housemate who communicated through the other housemates called Big Sister and it was good because Big Brother is sexist.
