Exclamation New TIBB forum Gripe thread

As we have migrated from one forum software to another, there will be a number of snagging issues or bugs. The purpose of this thread is to raise them so the Admins can seek a fix or a work around, or inform us, that's your lot.

This is not to be a slagging match between members

We raise these issues to get resolution.

I will put my first of possibly many in the next post.

BB Code issue

On the old forum, we could resize images in the [ IMG ] [ /IMG ] tags by having [ IMG=XxY ]

Where X and Y are the sizes you wish the image to be on screen. This avoids massive images causing excessive scrolling to the side. I looked at some of my old posts where I used this and of course the images are now broken. To get my signature image to show, I had to knock off the =80x80, and look at the size of it.

Is it possible to get the resizing of embedded images back on this board, and in such a way we do not have to edit old posts?

Speaking of which

The YouTube BB Code

The YouTube BBcode has gone from [ YOUTUBE ] [ /YOUTUBE ] tags to [ YT] [ /YT ] would it be possible to revert back to the old, or at least have it so the old tags still work, otherwise I see a lot of editing of old posts

One other issue that comes to mind

On creating this thread I discovered I had added an extraneous letter into the thread title. In the old forum, the OP could change the thread title, on VBulletin, it seems only a mod can do that, from the setting we have here.

Question, is it possible to restore that ability so that Mods don't have to be pestered if we fail to spot the typo before we hit post.

I may come up with others as I find them

I thought I fixed the title editing. Will check.

I changed youtube tags because they are done differently now ie. you only put in the video id rather than the whole youtube link between the yt tags.

Will try and find a way to get the old tags to work.

I dunno if this is the right place but I discovered you can edit your own topic titles by just double clicking on them. I was like 'wow!'

Thanks for that fix, to be more precise in the list of topics, you double click on the tick icon on the right of the thread you are the starter of.

I've changed it to 10 for now. Were you getting that message when you clicked 'New Posts' or 'Today's Posts' twice in a row, or was it only after doing a search on the forum?

Why there must be a delay ? I mean, we could click whenever we wanted on the old forum. It doesn't happen after doing a search, it's just when you refresh the page.

You have included 11 images in your message. You are limited to using 10 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the BB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.

Highly annoying xD (graphics thread incase you're wondering)
Will also be hard for graphic competitions and stuff, can we change this? :3

For an experiment I edited the first post in my most recent Mystical Realms story in the creative writing section, to amend the Youtube tags to the new version.

Although the video is now available, it is left justified, even though it is in the middle of the align=center tags. Other parts of the text and images are centred as directed, it is just that the embedded youtube clip is not controlled by the align=center tags

Question

Sticks, just a few concerns of mine:

1) How do we get rid of that highly obnoxious sidebar with the latest threads?

2) Why is the general chat section all the way at the bottom and not under the non Big Brother category :s It looks weird there. The layout would be great if it was at the top.

The new 'BB10-new Wide' theme doesn't have the sidebar.

I have moved the General Chat forum to the top.

It also triggers on number of characters in a post, which for those in the Creative Writing section a problem, as with my stories one episode now exceeds this limit set at 10,000 characters.

If it is possible it would be nice if that limit could be raised, say 80,000

Sorry to play the broken record and be a pain.

Is it possible to increase the character count per post from 10k to say 80k. This is because in the archives there are posts that are quite long, including some of mine, which because of the limit, I am unable to edit to fix issues with the new youtube tags.

Also on the broken record front, readjusting the IMG tags to bring back the IMG=XxY function.

OK, I have increased that limit a bit. I'll have to check whether adding the img=XxY tag will conflict with the current img tag.

Not so much of a gripe as an enquiry, How do you get youtube videos to work? because I tried the tags and the box shows up but no video?
