...if this doesn't spring a series of copycat threads I'll be thoroughly disappointed.
100. Suede – The Beautiful Ones The number of Bowie pretenders there’ve probably been since he emerged is likely to be high – and none have really struck me as anything of note other than this song. Released in 1996, it reminds me heavily of another track on this countdown; “All The Young Dudes” by Mott the Hoople. One of many “I’ve driven around to this song” entries. 99. Pet Shop Boys – What Have I Done To Deserve This? So, the Boys were already one of the 80s most accomplished acts with a number of brilliant dance tunes under their belt. But in 1987, 60s legend Dusty Springfield came back and lent her voice to this – hitting #2 on both sides of the Atlantic. Really cheerful and proof that the most unlikely collaborations can sometimes be the best. 98. Paul McCartney & Wings – Live and Let Die It’s always difficult for me to decide; which was the best Beatle? Lennon was the visionary, but McCartney’s knack for tune after motherfunking tune always gives him a run for his money. Coincidentally, George Harrison was probably my favourite. Back to this, and the best Bond song evaaaar. It always looks so exciting performed live, with all the laser shows and what not. 97. Oasis – Champagne Supernova Some undecipherable lyrics aside, this is one of Oasis’ best. I find it’s best to listen to this whilst stuck in a car in the pouring rain. Probably better if you’re high, too. 96. Sixpence None The Richer – Kiss Me The 90s produced a small string of ridiculously catchy and sweet pop songs like this. The guitars are perfect, and hearing everyone join in singing (however bad they are) is always infectious. 95. Elton John – Tiny Dancer Thankfully still intact after some horrendous version by ‘DJ Ironik’ last year (I think the ironic bit is that he isn’t a ****ing DJ), Tiny Dancer was a simple song about the lyricist, Bernie Taupin’s, girlfriend who was a dancer for John. God-given piano powers. 94. Echo and the Bunnymen – The Cutter The 80s produced a brilliant number of post-punk bands: Joy Division, The Cure and this outfit to name a few. ‘The Cutter’ has a brilliant Eastern sound to it and I’m ****ed if I know the name of the instrument responsible. 93. Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder – Together In Electric Dreams I know this is cheesier than arista’s Y-Fronts, but my god it’s a ****ing tune. Definitely one of the best 80s pop songs, if not the #1. Often mis-attributed to the Human League (because Oakey was their lead singer), it reportedly took only 10 minutes to write. 92. Andy Williams – The Impossible Dream Almost certainly not his song to begin with, it’s near impossible to track down the original artists of songs before the 70s – because the classics are always covered by absolutely everybody. This version from, what I believe to be, one of the greatest male voices of all time, was used in a Honda commercial recently and is breathtaking. 91. Steppenwolf – Magic Carpet Ride Quite different to their other material, this track is beyond catchy.

90. Bryan Adams – Summer of ‘69
One of those childhood-nostalgia tracks here. My dad had a mix-tape of stuff including this, and every Sunday we’d drive with him to this pub to have lunch, and he was part of this skittles club...driving and singing along to this were probably the “best days of my life”. 89. Blondie – Heart of Glass Obligatory Blondie track here. Just reminds me of countless hours spent driving around and shooting pedestrians on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. When video games were cooool. ![]() 88. Bette Midler – The Rose NO THIS IS NOT A ****ING WESTLIFE SONG. She’s pretty much the queen of the overblown ballad, and they don’t come better than this. Beautiful lyrics. 87. Prince – Purple Rain Ruth Lorenzo aside, Prince’s whole career intrigues me. He’s so short and hairy, yet so bloody sexy and I can’t think why. Oh, this song’s a classic btw. Now where’s that KY...[/conzors] 86. Buddy Holly – Every Day I’ll be honest – I don’t really know **** all about Mr. Holly. Apart from the obvious exit. But tracks like this make it easy to see why he was so pivotal in the groundwork of popular music we have today. 85. Kate Bush – This Woman’s Work Yeah, the NSPCC song. But I knew it before My best friend is obsessed with her – he went through a phase of performing the Wuthering Heights dance at house parties. Most odd. But this...well it’s rather heartbreaking really. Also, on a side-note, I think she's probably one of the sexiest women in music of all time.84. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Where The Wild Roses Grow First of two of his songs in this rundown, WTWRG features rather surprisingly good vocal assistance from Ms. Kylie Minogue. It’s an intriguing song – the story about a doomed love affair pulls at the heart strings. 83. Smokey Robinson & The Miracles – Tears of a Clown Because Motown is one of the greatest musical revolutions of all time. Was tough picking between this and Tracks of my Tears, but the stupidly cheerful tune and superior vocals won over. 82. David Bowie – “Heroes” Yeah the title has speech marks. See that yours does too. Now, once upon a time, this was the only David Bowie song I had, knew and liked. Shameful, I know, but if you’re going to start off somewhere this is pretty much the perfect one to pick. 81. Len – Steal My Sunshine Without a doubt the catchiest song from the 90s. Incredibly uplifting tune, and reminds me of countless summer times.

Okay, new rule, if you don't like "old songs" (and to be honest, you're a total ****ing spanner) please do me a massive favour and get the **** out of this thread. It's going to be full of them. Only 1 song from the 00s made it, I think.

1202032404530. John and Edward - "Oops!...I Did It Again"
Because it made me self-harm with ONE less scratch than #1202032404539's "Aserje" by Las Ketchup. There you go.
