Remember though, Chile only need a draw here and they're through, so alls they have to do is go with a defensive formation and stop Spain from scoring.

I honestly feel really sorry for Chile because I think they're an excellent team. If Spain had of beaten the Swiss they wouldn't be in this situation and I would hate to think that a negative team like Switzerland would go through ahead of the South Americans. Still though, they have only themselves to blame for not taking their chances against Honduras. This will probably go down to goal difference.

They had a good string of results, but that might've been after the draw to take them to third.

Just checked. Portugal must not have been ranked 3rd at the time. The host team and the top 7 ranked teams go in pot 1. The Asian, North/Central American and Caribbean & Oceaniac teams go in pot 2. Pot 3 is for African an South american teams. And pot 4 is for European teams.

So because Portugal weren't ranked in the top 7 they got threw in the European pot
