Most people (gay or not) who go on Big Brother are not the best example of the public. Thats what the show is about. I think the Canadian and the other gay guy from the house next door in BB7. gave a good "performance for the gays" ( your words not mine)

I thought Shabby was a good choice as 'gay' ambassador for this series. Attractive enough to debunk the theory that all gay women have cropped hair and DMs and not a porno lipstick lesbian only getting it on for the purpose of titillating men.

Yes well the only problem is that Shabby was not a lesbian and in fact reinforces the 'stereotype' that many young women become 'lesbians' for the sake of getting attention.

In the sense that she is sexually attracted to men, wants boyfriends and ultimately a husband,
and,
is not sexually attracted to women, has not had sex with a woman and does not intend to find a woman for sex.

She is putting on an act she knows will gain her attention and increased her odds being picked for BB and then using it as part of her bad acting.

I've complained about this before with BBUSA who somehow decided that each season should have a hysterical bitchy homosexual and preferably black (for some odd reason?) and the more effeminate and squealing the better.
BBUK seems to be guilty of the same things too often.

Yes, about half the people do seem to be anywhere from a kind of irritating sarcastic '*****ly' type of personality to just flat out twisted a-holes and even downright untrustworthy and violent types.
Maybe closer to 3/4s of them I would not consider friendly or genuinely likable types.
Maybe 25% of them I'd say were quite decent friendly types you would want to befriend.
Gays have more real 'sweethearts' I'd say. I mean the type of really soft and sincere 'gentle' types. I'd say 1 in 10 meets may meet that description of a real sensitive gentle man with heart.
Then again those guys seem prone to becoming the very spiteful ones full of contempt and seething hate.

BB is consistent though in the sense they find the most handsome homosexuals.
In reality, plenty of gay men I met were ugly pigs, unattractive, even repulsive looking or just plain ugly like the rest of us,
but,
BB does the same with any other contestants or 'types' and find the hottest looking single mums and the fittest looking men etc.

Before BB10, most gay housemates were entertaining and bitchy. Not so much these days. But that's BB's fault for thinking they could make a great series by giving us "normal", "well-adjusted" housemates.

I guess it's a bad advert for being a woman too, what with all the fake boobs, fake tan, bitching, mindless conversation and the fact that every year at least one girl gets her boobs out when she's bored. May as well give up being a girl right now, it's a terrible example set by BB.

Then there is the bad advert for being a young, straight male... always drinking, passing comment on the fit women, being loud and obnoxious, all the straight men who've got carried away and kicked off in the house - too much testosterone.

Big Bro doesn't (has NEVER) looked for Jane and John Doe, ever. It looks for people who are slightly unhinged, attention seeking, occasionally a bit slow, self servers. THAT is what BB has become since around the 2nd series. To say it's a bad advert for this or that is utterly riduculous. Anybody with a braincell knows that these people do not represent the everyday human being. Otherwise they'd be at home watching, not actually on the show.
