Seems a perfectly plausible explanation to me. They showed Sam saying 'thats like 8 pairs of John James' socks up there now'

What a stupid, stupid reason. Ok, let's assume the 8 socks did by large coincidence land on the exact place to block the gutters why did staff not remove them? Did the staff not care to see where the socks landed in case of an emergency? Was a risk assessment not carried out when the house was designed?

Maybe the staff forgot to remove them or didnt realise they had rolled into th gutter.

Do normal risk assessments cover socks?
