Default Cheryl Cole in climbdown over Gamu row
Cheryl Cole was last night forced into a humiliating climbdown over claims she was told to axe Gamu Nhengu.

X Factor bosses demanded she accept responsibility for booting the singer off.

One source said: "Cheryl has been really brave and stood up to Simon Cowell and ITV but they got to her in the end. She didn't have much choice but to stand down.


"It had got to the point where the speculation could damage the X Factor brand, and that is what angered Simon."

Cheryl, 27, had claimed she was told to axe the 18-year-old Zimbabwean star because of visa problems.

But she said last night: "The three girls I have chosen to go to the final were chosen by me.

"I was not aware of Gamu's situation outside the show but I must stress it did not have any influence over my choice."

Sick to the back teeth of this ****ing Gamu rubbish now. Every. Single. Day. I liked her but I've been put off by the completely OTT reaction surrounding her rejection.

I think they should just let the Gamu situation die down too now, (I still hate cheryl and her talentless picks) but I hate the way Zippy goes on against Gamu lovers as if he has personal vendetta.

Cheryl doesn't always pick who we think should go in to be honest. Last year I thought that American guy that sang Kings of Leon should have gone through for looks and singing factor but she didn't pick him.

But I think the outrage comes from the fact that the people she picked bombed at the Judges houses, yet we thought a large part of who goes through was based on those performances. Apparently not as we have found out, so this might not just be all about Gamu. Though for the future there will be a Gamu act (2010), which prevents judges from favoritism, under reality shows contracts.

Cher is a one trick pony, I doubt there's anything left to see of her. Gamu might well be deported at the end of the day, but she was the best of the girls and Cher is nowhere in her league (nor is Cheryl for that matter). You dismiss the uproar as "rubbish" when in fact its the viewers who keep Xfactor successful who have made their feelings known.
