There's this gorgeous man (i think anyway) who looks to be in his 50's, i'm in my 20's. He's got tinges of grey hair and gorgeous green eyes. He's a bit short though but that doesn't matter. He's been asking me out since last week. I'm reluctant because although I do find older men attractive I've never experienced dating one.
Has anyone hear ever dated anyone old enough to be their father? what were your experiences? Not just within the relationship but with the way people viewed your relationship? People say I have an old soul anyway so it could work.

well, my father left my mother for a girl who was the same age as my younger brother so I probably have a slightly biassed view on it but I just think about the future problems more than anything else if it were to become serious. Like if you want kids, he'll be really old and possibly not live through your childrens growing up. Also, do you want to be minding an old man when you're still in your prime?

![]() I thought about that unfortunately. I'm not sure whether to go into this as just an experience and a bit fun or whether I should go into it and see what happens. Oh dear. I don't know what to do. If he was rich maybe I could do an Anna Nicole Smith. Jokes.

I'll to think about it a bit more. The thing is atm i'm not sure whether he himself is just looking for something fun or something serious, but that's not something you ask before a first date even is it?

lmao no definitely not!! and tbh I think people will always want something serious if it's the right person, that whole I wasn't looking for anything serious line is just an excuse people use when they don't want something serious with that particular person imo!!

I would give it a go and if it's meant to be it will be. When I was 15 I went out with a man of 33 - it didn't last but we had one hell of a time!!!

yeah, I mean I have no doubt it would be all very exciting for a 15 year old but you'd have to wonder about the 33 year old!!

The voice of reason

You have to question any guy in his fifties asking out a girl in her twenties. Forget him and date someone your own age to save getting hurt later.

My dad was 30 years older than my birth mother and is 28 years older than my step mum, and was married to both for 18 years and 11 years (and counting) respectively. My dad was 52 when I was born. I actually take exception to people saying there's 'something weird' about an older man having a relationship with a much younger woman, it happens all the time and in lots of cases works out, it just depends on the two people involved. My dad is very young at heart and he and my step mum are soul mates, I've actually never seen a more suited and in love couple.
A 33 year old man going for a 15 year old girl is a totally different thing. All I would say is go for it, see how it feels, if it doesn't work out then whatever, you're plenty young enough to get over it and put it down to experience

The first thing you need to seriously consider is this...
How rich is he?

I know several men 35+ that are married or have a long relationship with someone that go after younger girls on the side. Be careful.

I agree with the people who are dubious about a man in his fifties asking out a girl in her twenties. Its just icky - does any one use that word any more? I'm not saying its wrong I just have to ask why a man of that age cant find someone with the same experiences as him and has to go cradle snatching. I don't doubt that it works for some people it just leaves me cold.
But as some have said, if he's rich the get all you can from him.

So... don't go out with him if he's not rich, even if you really like him. But if he is rich, take him for all he's worth, even if you don't like him at all?

Thank you for all the great replies people.
He owns a business, though I don't know how rich he is. lol. I used Tom's seven plus 7 rule and he's 35. Too old still but i'll see him next week. I'm having second thoughts already. I don't think i'm the type that would get into something with someone way older even if we gel, for many of the reasons people mentioned here but i'll give it a go anyway.I agree with everyone that said a 30 yr old going out with 15 yr old is just not right.

Just an update I went for a quick bite with him and no, I just wasn't as attracted to him as I thought I would be. There was just no spark. Nice guy but though not ruling out older men for now I want a younger 100% virile totty.

Well George Clooney's 49 and most woman, young or old, seem to find him attractive, I dont see too much of a problem with it, not right now anyway.
