They are very slow and unresponsive. If you have to phone them, you are in line of 10-15 calls. I waited an hour and its a natinal rate phone call.

I suppose you can narrow your choices down by looking at what you are hoping to study, and, researching who has the best school offering that out of the ones you are interested in. For example who has the best school of health or the best school of science etc....

I agree with CC100 UCAS are terrible to deal with - takes them forever and sometimes depending on the UNI you can ring their admissions office to see if you have a place, some of them are quite good

Thanks for the advice

Basically, Exeter is definately the Uni I want to go to as it isn't to far from Plymouth and my school has special links, hopefully meaning that if I dont meet a grade for example they may wave me through (I hope )
Reading, Cardiff and Southampton I think are definately going to go on my application too as they are all not too far away, offer good courses and require fair grades.
The only 2 on the top list above which I may replace are Bristol and Portsmouth with either Durham, York or Leicester.
I doubt if Bath, Kent, Coventry and Plymouth will appear on my form as the others are far better I think.
There are loads of open days in June / July so Im going to be all over the UK in the net few weeks, hopefully that will help me make my final decisions

What I know about this is.....

When you write the personal statement try and find a way to be original, and try to avoid cliches.

You've got to make it look like your a good candidate for the course so you don't really get any credit for mentioning negative points or being modest.

Thanks James for the advice

Being original is definately important, however I didnt know that you shouldn't be modest, I would've been like that if I hadn't have known.

Just an update on all the uni stuff thats going on... ive booked loads of university open days for the next couple of weeks meaning I miss a total of 7 days of school throughout the next 3 weeks, only down side is is that getting from Plymouth to places like Leicester and Norwich by 10am is very difficult - we have to leave at 3:30am to get to Norwich by 10am! And Im navigating!!
Heres a list of everywhere Im going:

Exeter - Tuesday
Reading - 24th June
Bath - 27th June
Portsmouth - 28th June
Bristol - 29th June
Southampton - 4th July
Leicester - 5th July
University of East Anglia, Norwich - 7th July
Kent - 8th July

By the end of all that I will have serious sleep deprivation I think, and miss a load of BB shows

Totally go to Bristol!! I'm there!! lol. It looks fab on your C.V!! Depends what you want to do there but for law it's one of the best in Europe - better than any of the other universities that you have listed!!!!! :-D Also depends upon what job you want to do after as law is really competitive so a degree from Bristol means more than a degree from some of the other universities.

It's important to take three factors into account:

1) how close you want to be from home
2) whether it is a place you can see yourself living and studying
3) how is it rated compared to the others - a good rep means you'll have more opportunities for employment after

I've been told by barristers that with law, the top employers (the best law chambers) actually don't bother even reading C.V's if there is a rubbish uni on it.....sounds horrible but it's because the uni's grade their own students so your degree level is decided by the uni you go to and their criteria.

I was considering doing law but as I didnt do it for A Level, I decided to choose History instead - my tutor told me to be careful in Bristol he said there was a lot of crime in the area around the university - is this true?

Just an update here as I need some advice...
Basically, I've decided I want to got to Reading University and I need BBB to get there and do History. However, when applying my school will send them my forecast A Level grades and the individual unis will decide whether or not to make an offer based on grades, personal statement etc...
The dilema is that I have been forecasted ABC which is technically the same as BBB, and I'm panicking that Reading won't except ABC and will say they are looking for BBB only, and no equivalents.
Does anyone know if they will except ABC instead of BBB as both grade combinations total 300 tariff points.
