Default Jay Z's Best Album? (Best Thread In Music Section)

[Jigga Stan]
There are not many artists where you can have Hour+ long debates over their best album but Jay is definitely one of them. Hell, he's had so many..

So here it is. What do you think is his best album? In order of release.

Reasonable Doubt

In My Lifetime Vol.1

Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life

Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter

The Dynasty: Roc La Familia

The Blueprint:

The Blueprint 2:

The Black Album:

Kingdom Come:

American Gangster:

The Blueprint 3:

Reasonable doubt is widely considered his best album, but for me it is the Black Album. Maybe that comes down to what it was at the time, but it is certainly the album I play most of his.

If there is enough discussion, I will add a poll.

Inb4 3 replies and I cry over the effort.

Aside from WTT, I only really like Reasonable doubt. Not a big Jay Z fan though, his voice just doesn't do it for me.

Yeah, tbh Reasonable doubt is his best album. I just like Black Album more for some reason.

Not another Rapper will match his Discography. Hell, not many artists full stop will.

And Late Registration and MBDTF are even better.

Jay's Discography is all over the place. Yeah, he has 3 classic (as does Kanye), but half of his albums are generally considered bad/not particularly good. Kanye has yet to release a bad album.

Jay has 3 solid Classics and everything else is still considered at least "good" Even Jay's worse album Roc La Familia was received well.

Kanye has released good albums, but for me only two classics at a very push. I even prefered 808s & Heartreak to Late Registration, that's not a classic

I guess it depends who you're asking, I see a lot of hate for the Blueprint 2 and 3, Kingdom Come and The Dynasty.

Late Registration is considered Kanye's best album by even more people than with MBDTF. That's a legit classic. The only debatable one is MBDTF simply for not being around long enough.

Outkast also have a better discography. On the same level as Kanye's in both quality and consistency.

i know it's a predictable choice but MBDTF is my fave Kanye album by a mile. Followed by College Dropout, Graduation, 808s and then Late Reg.

Outkast and Kanye West have near perfect discographies. Common and Biggie too. Jay Z is close as well
