Default 17 housemates!!

Really?

Thats way to many imo.

Remember back in the day we had 12 housemates who went through months of auditions and finally were the chosen few.

I can see this turning into another BB8!

Bring on the 24 housemates.

Not all at once, 16 on launch, then one replaced with the wild card on day 4. Though there are 20 squares in the lounge so I wouldn't be surprised if the other two wild cards and a relative of one of the housemates go in later.

they keep some squares empty, too. Last year they had loads and just scattered the housemate's pictures randomly.

They didnt have any late additions last year only Jem as a replacement, 17 HMs for a whole series is a pretty decent total.

I don't mind lots of housemates but not too many at once. BB7's 14 on launch night was perfect IMO. And then extra throughout the series.

16 on BB10's launch was quite good, although at least we had some overnight feed then to get to know them a bit. With no live feed 16 housemates straightaway is a lot to get used to. Unless it was 16 last year and I'm forgetting? I think it was 12 though.

Rather have loads at the start than them putting someone new in every other week.

17 is fine but it'd be better if it wasn't all at once.

16 is way to much with no live feed.

Its gonna be impossible getting to know any of them.

16 is a good number. At least the house is big enough to accommodate it with decent camera angles. I remember the bb10 launch. 16 people crammed in that small room made it impossibe to see anything.

i agree with better putting a lot at the beginning than putting new ones in half way through.

Agreed, though it means it takes longer to get to know everyone.

true.
but if theres a number too small of housemates then it kinda gets boring- and people who enter late people usually dont really care about as much and im sure channel 5 would have "the chosen one" by then

I actually like newcomers 3/4 weeks in and how they change the dynamics. But they never stay for long.

I like lots of housemates on Launch Night! 16 is a great number, it worked for BB10 because it's first week was brilliant.

Meh. I'd rather 14 housemates for the Launch and a few new housemates midway.

They ought to have a set number (such as 12) otherwise there is no chance t form an opinion (good or ill) of the HMs.

Maybe they are putting a couple of extra in as they are thinking about the possibility of a walker?
they can't risk there not being enough hm's to finish the show, and everyone hates latecomers.

do we ever get to know a house mate?
we go by what we are shown its better to have a large number at the start as they are all seen as equal those that go in later are always a little outside of the main group and the housemates them selfes dont do well or end up walking.

It's 16 at launch (by the number of beds) with the wildcard going in after a few days when listings say that there is an eviction. So 16 at any one time.

There's going to be a double eviction or midweek eviction to cull that down to 4 or 5 in 9 weeks.
