M83's Anthony Gonzalez will take his big-sounding music to even bigger screens. The Playlist reports that he's set to write the score for Oblivion, a sci-fi film directed by Joseph Kosinski-- the same guy who directed the Daft Punk-scored Tron: Legacy. The movie chronicles the journey of Jack Harper (played by Tom Cruise), one of the "last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack's mission is nearly complete..."

"I'm not afraid to do my first soundtrack on a big Hollywood movie, with a big budget and a lot of pressure... I like challenges and it excites me more than frightens me," Gonzalez told the Playlist.

Kosinski told the Playlist that he was listening to a lot of M83 when he began writing the Oblivion story back in 2005. The film is set to begin shooting in Iceland and the U.S. in the coming months, and is scheduled to hit theaters next April.
