Default Its Not The Majority

Why do people keep saying the majority wanted Nikki out. They didnt.

For people that keep asking why did she go when she got so many cheers, name chanting etc think about it.

She got 37% of the vote. Probably about 10% of that will have been from multiple voting.

But and now this is the clever bit, 63% DID NOT WANT HER OUT.

Nikki haters, do you understand now? Good.

So stop going on about the majority getting their wishes, they didnt and that is why the viewer ratings will drop.

Who wants to watch the dross thats left? Not me. It'll be good to get my evenings back.

I concur with the above sentiment, the silent majority did want to keep Nikki in.

But if you work that out between the other 10 housemates up for nomination 37% is alot for one person considering 11 were up.

This is true, but the majority of voters voted to keep Nikki in. 37% may be a large amount, but it is not the majority of voters.

It was still ALOT of people who wanted Nikki out - people were sick of her tantrums.

Well, that's a problem with having more than two people up for nomination - it is likely that the highest percentage will be under 50%.

The only way round that would be some kind of second-preference system, or a run-off vote between the two highest polling HMs (not very practical). Or always limiting the nominees to two.

But a lot of this is multiple voting which is not fair in my opinion - i know a lot of people did that with Nikki

Ive already explained this once.
Its very simple. It doesnt matter how many votes anyone else polled. Its as simple as this 37% wanted nikki out therefore 63% didnt. Therefore the majority of voters did not want nikki out, hence the overwhelming cheers.

Get it now?

And I wasn't denying that there was no simple majority to evict Nikki...

But that doesn't make the eviction result any less valid.

You can't really say that the other 63% didn't want her out, they just wanted some else out more. If you go by the most popular vote for week 8, Nikki only had a 30% fan base

1st past the post, is an old UK tradition, ensuring that usually 60% of the people are unhappy with the result, and damned if we are changing that.

If it was voting to save, Nikki will still have been a clear winner

You are using statistics to prove your point; even though your point is flawed you are trying to validate it using statistics. The only thing you can say is that the majority didn’t want her out, but more people wanted her out than any of the other house mates and that’s how the game works. Would she have stayed if you voted to keep the person in who can say for sure?

The point you are trying to make can also be said for the government since half of the country don't vote how can they be elected by majority?

As for the cheers she has lasted the majority of the show now so she was bound to be popular. It’s not as if she was thought of as a nasty or vile person, most of the house mates from this point on will come out to cheers.

There are lies, damn lies - and statistics
