FORMER Celebrity Big Brother host Davina McCall has begged to be a housemate in the new series.

The 45-year-old, who as presenter interviewed more than 100 contestants, is desperate to have a go herself in the famous house.


She was even top of the producers’ “wish list” for the new series, which begins on Channel 5 next Thursday. But she won’t be appearing – because her husband doesn’t want her to.

Pet Rescue presenter Matthew Robertson, 44, said he did not want to “share” her with the public.

Davina said: “Initially, I thought it would be fun to go on, even for a night.

“Then Matthew said: ‘I have to share a lot of you, I don’t want to share you sleeping’. I was like: ‘OK, you win!’”

Stars rumoured to be entering the Channel 5 house include X Factor’s Rylan Clark, 24, who is the bookies’ 11-4 favourite to win ahead of jockey Frankie Dettori at 5-1.

Other celebs said to have signed up include ex-EastEnder Gillian Taylforth, 57, and comic Jim Davidson, 59.
