Default When you're on the bus ...

Or using any other form of public transport, what are your pet peeves? Is it the usual slew at the back blasting loud music, annoying conversations or whatever?

I don't use buses as I don't understand how to use them.

My pet peeve was young couples would always sit in the seats in front of me when there was room all the way down the ********* bus and for the duration of my journey I'd have two people sticking their tongues in each other's gobs right in front of me.

I don't really uses buses, but there are things that wind me up about the Tube: people who smell, people who get right up against you (especially blokes who are doing it on purpose), people who try to get on while people are getting off, people who play their iPod too loud so all you can hear is an unidentifiable schhhh schhhh schhhh schhhh sound, people who wear backpacks, forget they have this enormous, ridiculous thing on their back and still try to squeeze on an already packed train without taking them off.

pretty much, although I am guilty of being one of the ones with backpack sometimes. Also people that let their baby play jumanji on the back of your head, plus people that make loud noise with crisps packets and those that slurp their tea loudly...so pretty much everything is annoying really.

Are you meant to press those buttons? What if it's not the right place? Are you supposed to walk to the front of the bus before your stop? What if you fall? What if you get to the front if the bus and realise this isn't your stop at all and everybody's looking at you?

It's just too stressful

To be fair I've seen lots of young fit lads stay in their seats and leave elderly people to have to stand on the bus. It's just good manners to give up your seat for the elderly and I had always considered it an unspoken responsibility when I was going to school and college.

There is a very offbeat creature who is on my bus home from work every day. She's about 45 but dresses like a 16 year old and comes plastered in this insanely orange foundation that makes her look like a transvestite version of Taz from wrestling. She goes out to town each night I think to try and catch a shag which is quite sad and I don't think she's all there but she has the single worst taste in music of any person in living memory.

She pumps herself up for the big night out with phone speaker choons of this Crazy Frog type stuff. The lowest, lowest, lowest possible rung of dance music that makes the bloke from Ultrabeat look like some svengali. It's this completely mental 180 bpm noise with scratchy vocals and it goes on and on and on.

One night I want to actually follow her to wherever she goes and see what her craic is.

Elderly people who push in front of the bus queue and expect you to move for them as if they're vastly superior and smelly people.

Omg this mayne. They get on my flipping nerves. I'm all for respect for the elderly but it should be both way. When I have been at the bus stop since 15 mins before you arrive, It is ok for me to step on the bus first if I want to, you do not need to push me with your shopping bag and then get all grumpy as you get on the bus as if I had nerve to not let princess elderly get on first. The other day someone was already sitting in a seat and an grumpy older lady just pointed her finger so the person could get up. The person not wanting to make a fuss just got up, I wanted to slap her. Ok I didn't want to slap her but damn

I have been on a bus once in the past 20 year.
I do like to travel to Whitby through the Esk Valley on the train with hubby to take in the views but otherwise it is the car for me.
