It's been a recurring theme on C5 Big Brother that the apparent victim in the house ends up being the forum favorite. Why is this? With Aaron it was clear that he reveled in the victim status as he knew it made him popular, and Dexter followed that formula. It seems that the forum favorites are the "outsiders" and "victims" and there's a chance that housemates plan on playing these roles before they gone in to garner sympathy and try and win the show. Deana is an example of an entertaining outsider or even victim because she stood up for herself, some of the others I've seen, not so much.

I'll support victims if they're entertaining, but if all they want to be known for is being apparently bullied then I will not support them at all.

Which Jale doesn't... she's said on many occasions that Helen and Pauline can say what they wish, she hasn't made big dramatics over it/doesn't slag them off

Yeah I get what you're saying. I thought I'd really like Jale when she stood up to Toya, but her talking to herself in the garden after Tamara's eviction threw me off a little. Maybe all of the week's emotions were hitting her then, but it was the first moment that I thought she could be playing it up.

Usually when someone is the underdog/victim in the house the other housemates are going along with someone else and attacking the victim somewhat, rather then being themselves. Makes it all that more easy to like the underdog/victim.

As clever as the HMs claim to be they don't have the public sussed, and so the big egos always end up going despite all their talk of cleverness.

But you could argue that Jale does know what she is doing. She's not playing the whiny victim type that goes around crying to people but she could very well be playing the public by trying to act the tough victim that isn't going to give her 'bullies' the satisfaction. It's really hard to tell without knowing her better. Maybe she's being 100% genuine, I really hope/think so. She seems pretty on her own and I don't think she needs to be portraited as a victim since it's obvious Pauline is a moron.

I think its because even though we find outspoken and zany housemates entertaining in the long run, we have also got hearts and don't want to see anyone verbally accused or being left out of a group. We often sympathise with their situation. The only exception I have ever seen to this is that Hazel and Daley situation last year when very very few people had a shred of pity for Hazel even though what Daley did was totally unacceptable. That did surprise me as for the most part there is a lot of sympathy in here. Just my opinion

Something inoffensive
|
"You only like/hate them cos they're victims"
"You only like/hate them cos they're black" "You only like/hate them cos you want a woman/man to win" FFS people like them as individuals |

I agree, this honestly annoys me so much. I don't understand what jale has done to be so popular and the answer is she quite simply hasn't done much at all, but she's been targeted, took it all in her stride and suddenly she's a goddess.

Flag shagger.

LOL... in a nutshell.
People don't like to see someone trodden down. Most people will feel empathy to the person who's being singled out. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll go on to win, it just means people don't like, for want of a better word, bullies. |
