Jale wanting to save Marlon is fine, I'd be shocked if she didn't. They've always been friends and Marlon hasn't contributed to the hard time Jale had earlier on, but since when have Ash and Steven been her friends?

Well Jale mentioned they were friends before the maggot comments and Ash also said he thought they were friends that's what I meant by 'they know a lot more than us' because I would never have thought that just going by the highlights we see had I not heard them say it.
