I tried to send Ammi a PM about 40 times while we kept going down last week and I thought I'd actually managed to send one but she hasn't replied () so I just went to check my sent items and there's nothing in there after 2010, wtf. I've definitely sent some since then

Messages only get saved in sent messages if you click the box to do that when sending a message. You can also make it so that saving sent messages is always clicked on, by selecting the option in User CP to do that.

You sent Ammi a message on 15th July which got through, but she hasn't read it yet. She probably hasn't noticed it.
