We can now announce that Matt Edmondson is the new face of ITV2’s The Xtra Factor.

And, in a big change to the spin off show's format, Xtra will be going live from the very first episode, bringing viewers instant access to contestants and the reaction to their auditions.
As the host of Radio 1’s Weekend Breakfast Show since 2011, funny man Matt has interviewed some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry and with his unique, irreverent style, he has cemented his credentials hosting shows across Radio 1, T4, ITV2 and Channel 4.

Matt is also no stranger to The X Factor, as a long time fan of the show and presenter of an online spin off show, The Fan Factor, in 2011.

Speaking of his new role, Matt joked: "I am unbelievably excited about joining The Xtra Factor this year, not least of all because on my first day Louis Walsh walked into my dressing room topless, unannounced. I regard this as the definition of ‘living the dream’”.

The brand new live format will commence from the beginning of the series, giving fans of The X Factor the chance to react to the night’s episode immediately after the audience has seen it.

The show will feature live interviews with contestants who appeared on the audition show, plus reactions from celebrity guests and interaction with fans on social media. There will also be the usual mix of exclusive unseen auditions, backstage gossip and unprecedented access to The X Factor judges.

Matt is currently filming behind-the-scenes during the Judge auditions. Further information about the show will be announced shortly. Stay tuned...

Live format sounds really good and they've done well to get Matt on board, he's quite engaging and will suit well presenting.

I thought BOTS was bad enough, now he has about 5 shows to host. The more jobs hes given the more my dislike grows

Rylan would be wise to leave BOTS tbh. With this, his chat show, his This Morning segment an ITV2 panel show pilot on the way and his book signing tour he's got a lot going on outside of it.

BOTS is his most stable job I don't think he'll leave it. This Morning is stable but he doesn't have much of a big part in it. Xtra Factor changes its hosts yearly and Up Late With Rylan/ITV2 panel show can be axed at any point.
