Quite right too. We are all far too dull. We would organise the place, cook nice wholesome meals based on lentils, get horribly drunk dance around the settee and strip.

Last year here in Newcastle a night club at the new "Meet me at the Gate" complex refused admission to a couple, because they were too old and would not fit in with the younger clientel that they wanted.

Just because one is over a certain age, does not mean that one automatically behaves in ceratin ways.
I would prefer that, in all areas of life, we stop pigeon-holing people. Treat each 'case' on it's own merits. If someone is over 40 and they would fit in the house - then let them in.... |

I know I'm in a minority but Sandy was one of my favourite housemates last year.
![]() And I don't see why they're rejecting over 40s because they won't get on with Jade types. They should reject the younger HMs instead. ![]() Assuming this is all true of course. The source is the News of the World. They might just be trying to influence the final choice of housemates themselves. |

I liked Sandy as well James, and I'm disgusted if the BB producers are now banning the older person from entering the house!
Look at Dean and Stuart, they were both in their late 30's and they fitted into the "slot" fine, so why should someone a couple of years older be treated like an OAP! NOT ON PRODUCERS!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

What happens if they select a 39 year old who has a birthday while in the house. Do they get evicted!!!!!!
![]() ![]() I tend to agree with such a ban. The house needs vitality to be really entertaining. Older generations like myself try as they may do get stuck in their ways. |

Age is all in the mind - after all look at Elizabeth she was 27 going on 50.
![]() ![]() Whereas I, and several others on this site, may be a little older, but we could still show the young folk a thing or two!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I shouldnt think they would get many applicants over 40 anyway - unless they were self-employed they would be unlikely to get 9 weeks off work unless they gave it up and most wouldnt be able to do that. Just hope they dont restrict themselves to young 20 somethings though I think they need to have a range of ages so we can see how they interact. |

If you look at the older housemates they haven't tended to do so well x The main target audience for the majority of television shows is 18 - 34 as these are the people who advertisers aim for therefore the people in the house will generally represent that age group x xxxx Plus Dean and Stuart where both under 40 x so they still would be allowed in anyway? x |

I thought Dean was really great and I didn't have a problem with Stuart.
I think its good to have all ages a good mixture ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() I tend to agree with you, BusyBee - age can be very much all in the mind. But if you are the token 'oldie' in the BB house (as happened with Sandy) then it could be very difficult to integrate with all the other young 'uns. A fairer split of ages - maybe half between 18-30 and half 30 and above, might work better. P.S. Hi, bananarama - great to hear from you again! ![]() |

I wouldnt mind the producers picked Sandy, then they try to say everyone over 40 is like him. Bloody Cheek. I'll end up boycotting the thing of they carry on like that.

It surely depends on the housemate and they should go through the same selection process. I think an outright ban of anyone over 40 is wrong.
As for the show (and stated above most shows) being aimed at the 16 - 34 year old because of the advertising, who has the greater spending power someone of 16 or someone of 46? I'm over 40 does this mean I should not be watching BB? Just because you are over 40 doesn't mean you are over the hill and they shouldn't tar us all with the same brush as Sandy. Rant over!! I shall watch BB4 whether technically speaking I should do or not!! Oh and I really enjoyed watching Dean on BB2! |

I would love to see someone in their late 30s come in to the house and win! It would make BB4 different from the other shows.
This would be assuming that the ban on over 40s did exist. If it didn't then my comment still applies but with no age limit! |

There was an article a while ago that said the producers were using Aussie BB2 as a model for BB4 here. If that is true it lends some weight to this story because the oldest they have there is 30.
I think it would be interesting to see what effect a few older housemates would have on the house. I remember reading that only a handful of over 50s apply also though. And welcome back to ThisisBigBrother Bananarama. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Actually my earlier post was somewhat tongue in cheek you know!
I think I would make a good housemate. I can cook, (when I can be bothered) clean, know how to look after a smallholding, light fires, smooth tempers, facilitate reconciliations, hold my drink with the best of them, and the words (thanks to splodge) of several rugby songs. I also know what the teabagtin is for! |
