can't nobody hold us down

Not at night, no. If it's live, and swearing is happening at around 6pm, then it will have to.

No, Big Brother isn't a family show and is intended for over 18's. I couldn't stand it if all they did was put a beep in most words in a conversation.

Eviction shows have a 5 minute delay this year dont they? Cus of the swearing last year. But all the Highlight shows should be kept with the swearing. Never beep it out!

It makes the Big Brother athmosphere, that's it, so no !
Do you want the same thing as in Big Brother Australia, where the censorship is so huge that's it's really boring and annoying. The scenes in the bathroom are really limited, no swear words, it's too nice therefore it's boring sometimes ! Keep it like that and it will be great ! ![]() |

I don't really think ALL the swearing should be beeped out, but the one's before watershed should be!

I think it should stay the way it has been all this time really. Besides, most of the time we can figure out which swear word the HM is using when it's beeped out.

Thing is though, even if kids do watch it, can anyone here say they never swore when they were a kid anyway? Most people on this forum will be under 18 or 16 anyway, it doesn't matter! Swearing is a part of life, and it's one of those things kids eventually have to find out about.
I was 11 when i first started watching BB (BB1) and even if its ment for over 18's (actually i would say over 16's) kids are going to watch it. *Adäm x |

Well its kids choices/ parents choices if they want to watch it. I think its better to show swearing, as you get to see a more accurate view of people, if they cut swearing out people might have different views of housemates

It should be bleeped out if it's before the watershed (well, it will have to be). But to be honest, I swear like a trooper, so I don't really have a problem with it.

The opinions of parents doesn't really work, where children are concerned. Swearing is part of life! But it seems such a taboo still and Victorian times are hard to change.
The rap singer:- "Eminem" doesn't really bother about things like that. and he is very popular with kids and "blue-tooth" on mobile phones may contain plenty of swear words from the adorable and cuddly Marshall Mathers(Eminem). Anyway, getting back to Big Brother 8 and swearing. I like to see swearing happen on TV and in films, but naturally not "every other word". But it does have it's place in society, which is very pleasing. Kids, "don't listen to your parents", do as you please!! I have some interesting information for you all about the law concerning this:- Link & Statement below:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/guidelines/edit...ionthewa.shtml Editorial Guidelines in Full Harm & Offence Introduction Harm and offence editorial principles Audience expectations Sign posts & content information Scheduling of programme trails Television & the watershed News channels Radio & online Children & dangerous imitation Violence Nudity Sex Language Portrayal Alcohol, smoking, solvent & drug abuse & illegal drugs Suicide, attempted suicide & self-harm Safety & the law Tragic events Hypnotism Exorcism, the occult and the paranormal Acquired programmes Flashing images, strobing & photo sensitive epilepsy Images of very brief duration Television & the watershed Television scheduling decisions need to balance the protection of young people and particularly children, with the rights of all viewers, particularly those without children, to receive a full range of subject matter throughout the day. They must also be judged against the requirements of the Watershed. The 21.00 television Watershed is used to distinguish between programmes intended mainly for family viewing and those programmes intended for an adult audience. However, the BBC expects parents and carers to share in the responsibility for assessing whether programme content is suitable for their children. Programmes broadcast between 5.30 and 21.00 must be suitable for a family audience including children. The earlier in the evening a programme is placed, the more suitable it should be for children to watch alone. Programmes in later pre-Watershed slots may not be suitable for the youngest children. Only in exceptional circumstances can there be any departure from this rule, and then clear content information should be given, for example images that some children might find distressing in natural history programmes or in the 6 O'Clock News. Programmes that straddle the Watershed, that is start before 21.00 and finish sometime after 21.00, must be pre-Watershed compliant throughout. After 21.00 the post-Watershed transition to more adult material should not be abrupt and should reflect the nature of the channel and viewer expectations. The strongest material should appear later in the schedule. If sudden changes of tone are unavoidable they should be clearly signposted, for example, giving clear information about scenes of a sexual nature, violence or the use of offensive language. Interactive services connected with television programmes must observe the Watershed. This also applies where online users provide content to a live service associated with a television programme. Programmes must be clearly commissioned for broadcast before or after the Watershed to allow careful judgements to be made during the production process about the suitability of content. Late changes to originally agreed transmission slots, particularly any proposal to broadcast a programme before, rather than after, the Watershed, may result in significant re-editing to ensure that the programme complies with these editorial guidelines for harm and offence, particularly in relation to offensive language. nodisharmony ![]() |
