Because the Israel Broadcasting Authority is a member of the European Broadcasting Union.

Australia, Azerbaijan and Morocco are other non-European countries who have taken part.

He is also perfectly aware that contests and competitions that bring countries together to compete are supposed to be free from politics. The whole point is to increase understanding of each others cultures. So trying to ban Israel is just showing his true colours yet again.

Israel has TRIED on many occasions to sue for peace with the so-called 'Palestinians' but their efforts have been repeatedly SNUBBED despite Israel offering concessions.

Anti-zionism is NOT anti-semitism, at this point everyone with a passing interest in politics knows this and pretending otherwise is simply disingenuous and, frankly, vaguely libelous.

That said; Eurovision (voting favouritism aside) is supposed to be non-political, the whole point is that "normal people" (well... it's Eurovision... so not that normal, but you know what I mean) can come together and sing silly songs and dance about and laugh / cheer with each other, free from the day to day crapfest that is international politics. The issue with this stance, is that if we immediately connect anti-Zionism with other types of bias/bigotry, then that opens the door the opposition to take the same walk. Now others could just easily say "Well, those folk only favor X form of politics because they're using that political stance to hide their own bigotry/dog whistling", etc, i.e. people in favor of voter ID laws are inherently racist, etc ... it's yet another game of perception, one we will all lose...
