It's not really a fair comparison, we've only known about RE3make for less than a year whereas the VII remake was unveiled years ago, and has been something people have been begging for for 15+ years .

On the contrary, the hype for VII simmered out a while back and while there is hype again its not at fever pitch like it was, whereas RE3 was announced a few months ago

I do feel like if they had managed (somehow) to keep it totally under wraps and then been like "We're doing FF7 Remake... actually... it's basically done, just final touches, it's out in 6 months"... the hype would have been INSANE. I remember Skyrim only being announced something like 10 months before release...

I don't think the hype for VII has ever faded, whenever a new trailer comes out, the gaming world stops to take it in. Few games have the power to command the media like that quite like VII.
