The word parkin was a popular surname in Yorkshire and means Peter. Parkin is
a gingerbread cake traditionally made with oatmeal and black treacle, which originated in northern England. Often associated with Yorkshire, particularly the Leeds area, it is very widespread and popular elsewhere, notably in Lancashire. ![]() bloody gorgeous with a mug of Yorkshire tea |

[Leeds city council probes local sweet treat parkin
so it can warn school children of its links to the slave trade... because it is made with SUGAR Council probing how cake included ingredients that were gained via slave trade It will also review how products such as Yorkshire Tea 'are reliant on global trade' Research will show how parts of recipes were 'sourced from around the Empire' Pupils will then be able to learn about the links through Key Stage 2 materials] Leeds City Council you poxy trouble makers |

…no they don’t stir it up, Arista…as adults do also…so do children like to know about their products origins and that they’re Fair Trade and that other children just like them or adults like their parents, aren’t being exploited for Parkin cake and such like to have with Yorkshire Tea…that’s not a fair trading world, is it…no one human being should be exploited for the comfort of another…

My guilt as a mouthy teen makes me search out some tastier places for my lunch every day, now that I'm getting in a bit.
I must say, a dumpling burger has not been beaten in about 8 months now. Last edited by Beso; 24-07-2021 at 06:08 PM. |
