[The attack happened at a home on a
farm in a rural area of Rochdale] [Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said a 48-year-old man had been arrested under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 after handing himself into police. Several dogs had also been seized including a Cane Corso, which was humanely destroyed, the force added.] A 3-year-old should not have been near those dogs. [Daniel John Twigg was outdoors with a number of dogs in Carr Lane, in the town of Milnrow, before being found with serious injuries on Sunday. He was treated by paramedics but later pronounced dead at hospital.] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...ester-61481535 |

Happens far too often, sick of hearing "it's not the dog it's the owner" as well. Simple fact is, if that was true, it wouldn't involve the same breeds so often. I'm not saying go out and kill all dogs of certain breeds - just stop breeding them! In 15 years you can then make them 100% illegal to own, as they should no longer exist and anyone who has one has gotten it illegitimately. There are very few viable reasons that someone "needs" to own these large, powerful dog breeds in this country. Even as guard dogs there's no excuse. There are plenty of viable guard dog breeds that don't have such complex temperaments.

There are and most dog breeds COULD do severe damage, but there's a constant denial that there are some major temperament issues with certain breeds. Combine that issue with it being a large/strong breed and it's just a recipe for disaster.

Well , I’ve had contact with all manner of dogs for over 60 years even a time spent working in an animal sanctuary ... the softest ones I’ve met were Irish Red Setters and Labradors .
That said I’ve recently spent a fortnight in a household with a huge , purebred Pitbull and she was the most loving , sloppy dog I’ve ever met - her only fault/flaw was not knowing her own strength.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by Zizu; 18-05-2022 at 12:46 PM. |
