I disagree totally.

Sam was the main one pushing for it absolutely.

I like Zelah, always did from week one.
I just wish he'd avoided Sam like the plague.

Sam was fifty faced, even worse when he was with Caroline and Nancy.

That’s how I remember things

I think they heard the first part of his sentence and filled in the rest themselves and completely misunderstood his meaning
