Default Rewatched BB9 after 17 years

I've been meaning to get 'round to rewatching this series. BB5-7 were the absolute golden years, BB8 dropped the ball and I remember BB9 being a great return to form. Finally I've rewatched it and here are some random thoughts and some opinions that changed:

Rachel was a super boring housemate, but this time around I can see why she won. Rex inadvertently made her an underdog with the constant accusations of her being fake and sitting on the fence, and the public love an underdog. He gave the public a reason to want her to win, how ironic. Generally I still think she shouldn't have been put in the house due to being quite dull, but I do respect her as a person. Her loyalty to her friends and consistency as a person was beyond question.

I remember liking Darnell more in 2008 but now I feel he was way too cruel to Sara and he was such an obsessed gameplayer! I did get his autograph in 2008 because I lived in Ipswich at the time and he paid a visit to his birthplace. I still even have it!

I still think the house is one of the best of the series. The logos, branding and graphics were some of the best, as well as how uniform it all was with the interview set. Very nice stuff!

I remember hating that Davina would talk to the house from the studio because it was always exciting seeing their reactions to various housemates getting booed or cheered before, but realistically, it is better this way to retain no contact from the outside world.

Davina is still cringe-inducing, gurning and unfunny. Shame we couldn't have stuck gold like Australia did with Gretel Killeen! 😩

Alexandra was absolutely vile. Her disproportionate level of aggression and emotional instability to situations was genuinely uncomfortable to watch. idk how she functions in a civilised society because her behaviour was totally alarming.

Dennis was an obnoxious prick, straight up.

Maysoon was a complete dullard, thank God she walked. More boring than BB10's Hira and BB11's Steve.

The game of chance/prisoner's dilemma between Sara and Lisa was amazing.

I alway loved Lisa, idk what it is about her but her normalcy is such a breath of fresh air. Very very happy she got huge cheers upon eviction.

Sylvia was a stupid, vile bitch from hell. How immature you have to be to argue for making noise in the bedroom when people are trying to sleep when there's the whole rest of the house. What kind of logic is that.

I was consistently impressed with the series' smart planning of future events and tasks. Having 3 entrance doors with 2 seamlessly hidden, to reveal them and hide the middle one during heaven and hell, to have a secret outside shower was genius. Letting housemates watch an episode and VT's was brilliant! BB9 is right to be a fan favourite. BB5, 6, 7, 9 & 10 are peak BBUK for me.

I will not stand for the Hira slur.

I agree on the house. Looked amazing. We need to get back to that kinda basic but still chic look

Darnell is legit the worst housemate of all time. Massive chip on his shoulder the whole series, and a ****ing creep to Sara. The epitome of an incel.

I always remember Darnell having a bit of temper towards the women in the house, Sara and Rachel being the most obvious scenarios that I remember just off the top of my head.

He could be a funny guy when he wanted to be tbf, but I never liked his temper at the time at least.

I was watching some of the very first UK BB and I was gobsmacked by the bedroom.

It looked so bare and cheap and the beds out of some sort of kids 1960s boarding school.
