Not particularly, but I would like to think that I am as green as possible. I use energy-saving lightbulbs, turn off all electricals at the mains and recycle as much as possible.

I do care about the environment and Global Warming but it's such a huge problem, I feel like my efforts to recylce and conserve electricity are useless in the grand scale of things.

LONDON (Reuters) - Rising temperatures could wipe out more than half of the earth's species in the next few centuries, according to researchers who published a study on Wednesday linking climate change to past mass extinctions. (Advertisement) Researchers at the University of York said their study was the first to examine the relationship between climate, extinction rates and biodiversity over a long period. The findings, published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society, suggest climate change was the cause of large-scale extinctions, said Peter Mayhew, an ecologist who worked on the study. The study analysed fossil records and temperature changes over 500 million years, and found that three of the four biggest extinctions -- defined as when more than 50 percent of species disappeared -- occurred during periods of high temperatures. "The relationship is true for the whole period in general," Mayhew said in a telephone interview. "If temperatures went up, then extinctions went up and biodiversity tended to be lower." The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicts that average global temperatures are likely to rise by between 1.8 and 4 degrees Celsius (3.2 and 7.2 Fahrenheit) by the end of the century, partly as a result of greenhouse gas emissions. The upper end of the forecast rise would heat the earth close to the temperatures of 250 million years ago, when 95 percent of all animal and plant species became extinct, Mayhew said. Some of the past mass extinctions happened over a brief few hundred years, providing evidence that present day rapid temperature rises could have the same impact, Mayhew said. "It does give us an idea of what to expect in the near future," he said. "There is nothing that says it couldn't happen in a short timescale."

I find it hard to care over things that are out of my control... It reminds me of vegetarians. Refusing to eat meat, yet all the animals still die. Refusing to eat it means there's a bigger chance the animal died for no reason at all, and the food will go to waste. As is the same with global warming issues these days. The people who don't care will far outweigh the people who try to do their bit, thus the outcome is still the same and people go to all that effort for no real reason besides delaying global warming effects by a few months if you're extremely lucky. You can't make a difference unless the entire planet is willing to get on board with you, which they aren't. So I just tend to live my life and let the human race deal with the consequences later.

I do care about it, but there really is no point in me trying to make a difference, when 75% of the planet isn't. How's one persons efforts going to make a difference to something so huge?

It's just a case of "what if?" It'll never happen though, so it's irrelevant. It'd only have a MINOR chance of happening if we were told our planet will die next year if we all don't respect the environment more, and even then most people wouldn't bother. But as far as everyone's concerned, they'll all be dead by the time the planet kills us all off, so they won't even try. One person will never make a difference on these kind of matters, with a planet filled with millions upon billions of different people, all with differing views and ways of living. The only way one person can make a difference these days is either through being a celebrity, a researcher or an inventor. So if someone invents a way to cease global warming, we might be onto something. Although inventions are being spoken of, since a scientist appeared on Richard and Judy and showed us some inventions, one which involved the placing of crystals in space and the refraction of light etc, but I forget how exactly it worked, but it sounded good.

No, I don't care about global warming because it's not going to effect me. The planet is getting warmer which is a good thing because I am always cold.

TBH, I think the only way anything is going to be done is for everyone to work together. One inventer isn't going to invent a solution to global warming. One celebrity isn't going to appeal to everyone. One person isn't going to change the world by recycling. It's almost impossible to send crystals up to space, or drop ozone back into the atmosphere.
