Default why were the ratings down on last year do u think??

They said this years launch was 800,000 viewing figures down on last year, why do you think that was??

personally, i nearly missed the whole thing, i always thought it started on friday nights, and just happened to flick over and catch the first couple going in.
i reckon they would have got higher figures for a traditional friday night launch. ..thursday did'nt seem right.

( i think the figures WILL pick up though, they are a great mixed bunch this year)

Because people expected BB8 to be good after the popularity of BB7.

it was the whole CBB and the racist argument which made people watch it more

BB8 mainly is the problem, it drove fans away from the show
and BB hasn't launched on a Friday since BB6
It would of got even less if it had launched on a Friday

There hasn't been a Friday launch since 2005.

The low figures is because of three bad consecutive series- CBB5, BB8 and BBCH. Nobody cares anymore. But, and its a big one, it was only 1% down on last years launch meaning less people were watching TV on Thursday night than they were on 31/5/07 (?). It was Channel 4's highest rated show so far this year so its not exactly a flop.

The ratings might be down but a 25% share for a non soap is amazing and i think its C4's highest rated program since the BB8 launch

It's because of the racism thing, BB8 sucked, and so did Celebrity Hijack.
Less people are watching because they think Big Brother has lost it, but when they realise how good this years BB is, they'll come back.

I really want to know last night ratings. For the past few months they have been showing Friday ratings the day after, but now BB has started looks like we have to wait until Monday!!!

Reason? IT followed two mediocre series. BB8 was boring and CHJ just wasn't popular enough.

IF anything , Charley attracted viewers.. IMO. She made a very dull series slightly watchable, because she was interesting, like her or not.

You can see the viewing figures went down after she was evicted, and thats why BB tried to keep her in so long, because they knew without her, the series was doomed.

Charleys eviction and Charleys fake eviction were the only 2 shows barring Emily's ejection, the launch and the finale that had figures above 4m.

5 shows out of over 100 is not good but it shows people did want to watch Charley.

I blame two things:

1. Last year's series - both of them (CBB5/BB8).
2. Poor advertising. For instance, if I had never seen Big Brother before, there was nothing in this year's ad campaign which would have attracted me to the show. I think C4 relied on the thought that people would tune in just because it's Big Brother, but it backfired on them.

guys i loved CBB5 and BB8 i think BB8 had some amazing people in it. i agree the whole all female thing was stupid, and the halfway house thing was too. but i still think it was a good series. and cbb5 was amazing as well. it was a bit **** after jade left, but still. but yer bbch was terrrrible
i think people have just got bored of big brother
and yer it wasn't as popular in bb8
thats probably a reason
but i dont think bb8 was a bad series
this series should be good though (:

I think people may have just give up hope. There's not been a brilliant series since BB7 really.
