Default What makes you, you ?

It's been proven scientifically that every 7 years you lose 95 % of your body cells so basically 7 years ago most of your body was completely different.
Everybody's personality changes with age as do thoughts and opinions.
What makes you as a person different from everyone else. What make you, you ?

I was thinking about it just, and now my head hurts

What makes me me?

My two personalities I suppose.

Very good question.

Imagine how many brain cells a boxer loses...all those blows to his head... Every blow to your head will ultimately cost you many brain cells...but for your other body cells, they are not such a great loss.

that happens naturally to all of us whether boxer or ballydancer...rock-on billy elliott.

What makes me..me is something i have wondered for many years...I am an individual who is different from everyone else that exists on earth, but what makes that so is something we shall never actually find the answer to...

What if you're a boxer with no braincells to lose in the first place like I am/was?

I think what makes you, you is just knowing yourself. If you yourself know who you are then that is who you are and you can decide what makes you, you.

I know what I want to say it's just not coming out right lol

I know your reply is a humourous one...

To take it into the realms of actual-fact...it is no joking manner witnessing Mohammed Ali trying to talk sense when his brain cells have been smashed to pieces over the years...

no joke, no joke..

Life experience PLUS your genes.
"Life experience"
The people around you, family, society, culture...ads on TV it's just people and the experiences that you have as you interact with it all. That shapes your brain.
"genes"
This has alot less to do with it than the actual experiences you have but some things in the mind are hereditary ... but that isn't to say it's carved in stone.

So even though cells in your brain are being replaced as they die this doesn't mean you are a NEW person. Those connections and networks in your brain, the way your brain cells join up remains the same. The individual way you brain is wired ( your life experiences PLUS genetic determinants) are always kept... it's who you are. ... so don't stress over it hehe

Well obviously my individuality. Everyone is different, so we are all rare in some sort of way.

Personality too, everyone has different personalities.

I just think me in general makes me, as there is nobody else in the world exactly like me.

My mischievousness and devilishly good looks.

Kidding. Just the first one and my best buds. They bring out the me-me.

Do you have a reference for this? My understanding was that this is an urban legend

To answer the question

Personality and life experiences

Incidentally if anyone ever watched the Star Trek Enterprise episode where they had the inventer of the transporter, the character said that at the time of his invention they had similar philosophical debates.

You have a completely different body now than you did 10 or 15 years ago (I can't remember the right answer). Its why you get weaker as you get older because cells are essentially a 'photocopy' (if you like that explanation) of previous ones, and if you photocopy a photocopy, its not very good, and so on.
