While normally only the winner of The X Factor is guaranteed a record deal, this year’s lot all get to release a single – for charidee, naturally. The final 12 acts have teamed up to record a cover of Mariah Carey’s Hero and it will be released on Saturday 25 October (digitally) and then on Monday 27 October (in actual shops – remember them?) in aid of the Help For Heroes charity, which provides support for wounded servicemen and women. It’s so going to be Number One for weeks, isn’t it?

Yes, they are performing it on saturday. A good choice of song for the charity it supports, tho it has attracted a bit of controversy in the media......a mariah song does come in handy now and again on this show, doesn't it simon??

I bet this will be number one next week, it gets the download release on iTunes tonight and last week Girls Aloud were #1 by the next day after their apperance on XF so I wouldn't be suprised if this did the same.
