I am worried that Big Brother is going to fail this year in terms of Ratings. It is only attracting the hardcore fans who look out for it, and has not really tried to aadvertise to those people who may not have heard of it. I think they need more speculation

It would be great if they did the billboards again but the money isn't available during the recession

The ratings are dropping each year i expect this year to drop even more without the live feed.

Secondly, the lack of live feed would only lose about 100,000 viewers at the most. It is only the extremist members of Digital Spy and a few other fanatics who have nothing better to do with their summer other than watch 16 people cooking some pasta with bird noises in the background and commercial breaks popping up every seven or eight minutes that care. Lastly, I do agree with you Lewis, the build-up has been great this year but I don't think that enough has been done to promote the show this year. I like the adverts, the eye, the sponsor and I am raring to go. The thing is that the producers have to make about five million other people feel the same way so that they tune into launch night. I think that the easy way to advertising success would be to put an advert or two on during the BGT final. Last year, I believe about 13/14 million people watched the BGT final and I would expect the same kind of thing again this year. IMO, if Channel 4 could put the launch night adverts in the BGT breaks then it could well be their ticket to BB success. The amount of viewers on launch night could potentially hit six million. If you think about it, only about 60% or so of the launch night viewers watch most of the other episodes of BB throughout the summer. That would mean that it would be more likely to get a BB10 average viewer rating of about four million, which would save BB and the contract would most likely be renewed. However, the producers would have to have chosen the right housemates for the series to be a success over the 13ish week period. Basically, what I am saying is that the future of BB is in the hands of the producers. All they have to do is get the advertising and the housemates right and then they have the formula to a good BB. |

Trust me i don't have the time to watch the live feed 24/7 but for me its the choice of watching it when i wanted to.
