Default Scots X Factor coach Yvie Burnett admits nerves ahead of Britney Spears\' appearance

Scots X Factor coach Yvie Burnett admits nerves ahead of Britney Spears' appearance
X FACTOR vocal coach Yvie Burnett is so fond of the final five acts she doesn't want any of them to go tonight, she admitted yesterday.

As the final acts geared up for Britney Spears night on the show, the mum-of-two from Aberdeenshire said tears might well flow when she has to say goodbye to one of her "babies".

The surviving acts - Diana Vickers, Eoghan Quigg, Alexandra Burke, Ruth Lorenzo and the boys in JLS - are battling it out for a place in next week's semi-final.

Yvie said: "I don't want anybody to go this week. Usually, because someone goes every week, you get used to it. But I've become incredibly close to them all this year, maybe because they are all pretty young and I've got a 14-year-old daughter.

"It's an interesting year because really it could be anybody who wins. They all deserve to."

On the show, pop princess Britney brings her comeback from crisis to Britain for her first live performance here in five years.

She will perform her single Womanizer, while the show's other star guest, Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, will sing her latest single 7 Things.

Last week, the emotions that have been building up spilled over when Dannii Minogue burst into tears during a row with fellow judge Louis Walsh.

The Irishman accused her of "stealing" the Take That song Rule The World - which his act JLS had planned to sing - for her act Rachel Hylton.

Dannii sat with tears streaming down her face and her voice crumbled as she tried to introduce Rachel.

Yvie said: "I was sitting behind them and it was out of the blue.

"But I think at this stage of the competition we are all emotional. I've sat there crying before.

"We are all tired and working really hard. And I'm like their mother, so when they do well, the tears come.

"The judges are really passionately wanting their contestants do well.

"Louis really, really wants JLS to be in the final. When you only have one act left, you put everything into them."

Louis will certainly be hoping that bagging Britney's best-known hit, Hit Me Baby, One More Time, will help JLS make it through to the semi-final.

Dannii's one surviving act, Ruth, is favourite to go tonight.

Simon Cowell is pinning his hopes on baby-faced Irish teenager Eoghan.

And Cheryl Cole still has two runners - Alexandra and Diana, who is still favourite to win, despite a hard week of criticism.

Websites have sprung up with anti-Diana viewers slating the Lancashire 17-year-old's "claw-like" hand movements.

Others claim her yelps are also getting more annoying. Yvie, who coaches all of the acts, admits that she has made Diana rein back her trademark sound.

But she added: "I would ever take it away but I tell her not to yelp too often.

"It's her style. I don't want to take it away because she wouldn't sound like Diana.

But we put it in here and there and don't do it all the time.

"In vocal coaching, you do enough of something - you don't put it into overkill."

This week, the survival of the acts is all down to the public vote.

For the first time in the series, the judges have no say.

Yvie admits that this series of The X Factor has been particularly hard work for her because of the quality of the 12 acts selected for the live shows.

She said: "There has been a higher expectation on me because there were a lot of good singers. All these good singers have to improve because that's what the programme is really about.

"We lost good singers like Laura and Austin so there's more to prove with the ones that are left. But the final five have really, really come on.

"One thing is for sure - if you aren't popular, you'll never win X Factor, no matter how good a singer you are."

DIANA VICKERS

SHE'S got to be Diana. I don't think she can be anything else. She has to be confident in her uniqueness.

She can't suddenly belt out a big song - that's not her. She sings what suits her and doesn't feel insecure that she's not one of the big belters.

She's got to be proud that we haven't had anyone like her on The X Factor.

She looks like she sounds. She's a whole package.

This week's Britney song is: I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman

JLS

I LOVE JLS and they are good singers. They are just so charming.

They treat me so well.

So lovely to me. It's a pleasure when they come in. Their personalities shine through when they perform.

I can't say they are the best band we've had as I'd be murdered in my house because it has Same Difference fans.

This week's Britney song is: ...Baby One More Time

RUTH LORENZO

HER voice is huge. If you hear her in real life, it's really, really loud. But when you've got a big voice like that, it's harder to control.

She's worked incredibly hard and can now sing softly and build it up, which is a great talent. She's a Celine Dion-type of singer - a proper singer.

I hope she does well whatever happens to her on The X Factor because she's a great talent.

This week's Britney song is: I Love Rock 'N' Roll

EOGHAN QUIGG

I DON'T do the hair, which I'm very glad of. There must be a lot of hairspray.
It's very unusual for such a young boy to have such an inner strength. He's not nervous. I don't know where he gets that from.

He's consistent because he's not nervous.

Sometimes when you're nervous it all falls apart, but it never happens to him.

This week's Britney song is: Sometimes

ALEXANDRA BURKE

SHE needed to learn how to sing and look after her voice and we worked hard on that.

Her stamina has increased and she can sing for so much longer. She used to be tired the next day and now she's not.

People may say she's like Leona Lewis but I work closely with both of them and I think there is a different quality. You'd do different songs with each of them.

This week's Britney song is: Toxic
