Groovy baby! It's the pitter patter of Bridget Jones 3 and Austin Powers 4!Bridget Jones to return in a pregnancy love triangle while Austin Powers may swing back to the big screen, according to reports.

A third Bridget Jones film is set to enter production, according to Entertainment Weekly. The site reports that Working Title Films, the British company which brought both 2001's Bridget Jones's Diary and 2004's Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason to the big screen is preparing a third instalment, rumours of which have been circulating since at least March 2009. The main obstacle in the past was reportedly star Renée Zellweger's unwillingness to pile on the pounds to reprise her role as the curvaceous eternal singleton, though the option of wheeling out a slimline Bridget for film No 3 had been mulled over.

The first Bridget Jones film was a critical and commercial success, taking $281m (£172m) around the world and breaking UK box office records. Sequel The Edge of Reason maintained its predecessor's box office clout with $262m but was condemned by critics.

The new Bridget film is said to centre on Ms Jones's efforts to get pregnant. Colin Firth, who stars as Mark Darcy in the films, told Entertainment Weekly last year: "I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can't have children – I think that's the way it goes on. So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [Hugh Grant's character] for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she's left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?"

Helen Fielding, who wrote the original Bridget Jones novels, is said to be working on a third book and has been in talks about a new film. "I will be working on both the book and the film but I don't know if they are the same thing yet," she told the Evening Standard earlier this year. "It's not been decided."

Meanwhile, another familiar Hollywood figure could be set for a return to the big screen. Hitfix reports that Mike Myers has signed on for a fourth Austin Powers movie, though some other sites have rubbished suggestions that the project is a done deal. Myers's most recent comedy vehicle, The Love Guru, was a gargantuan turkey in 2008, dramatically derailing a previously stellar career.

Really looking forward to Austin Powers 4! Although the rumours that have been floating around since the last one don't bode well. Like how Mike Myers said he'd want to play the girl/love interest this time or that Scott Evil is the villain now, or that it's actually more from Dr Evil's perspective which in theory would make it a spin-off instead
