But ratings will need to be maintained for the rest of the series to fully satisfy Mr Desmond, I suspect.

There may be a surge because of Dazelgate, but he will be closely monitoring ratings once that has died down.

But it does show that BB has got life left in it.

The producers need to take note of casting e.g. Dexter and Gina are not conventional lovable boy/girl next door and down to earth characters but still popular. They probably thought Sam, Sophie and twins would walk it to the final and fight it out for the win (could still happen) but this is becoming less and less clear.

There's now a buzz about this series - sadly due to Dazel-gate, but people are talking about it. Twitter is ablaze and there throughout series loads of comments on dreaded Daily Mail (usually it's of the 'are people still watching this nonsense' but it's more enthused).

According to the official ratings, it's on for a 1.8m average if it stays as popular for the rest of the season.
