Default Ian McEwan maintains ‘degree of scepticism’ about Harvey Weinstein allegations

Author Ian McEwan has said he will maintain a “degree of scepticism” about the allegations facing Harvey Weinstein until he has heard them set out in court.

The writer said he thinks the disgraced film producer seems like “a moral monster” but he will withhold judgment until the trial.

McEwan told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “It seems a kind of circus to me.

“There is the media stuff, which we have to penetrate.

“We don’t know what actually happened; it seems he is a moral monster who has had his comeuppance, but I always like to encourage in myself just a degree of scepticism once the whole mob is in full cry, so I am going to withhold judgments until I have heard the arguments in court.”

we need more level headed voices like this and less sjw's on twitter spouting off before we have proper trials and evidence

i'm happy that the court will be deciding if he is innocent or guilty. I'm sick of all the trial by media. On a side note, wouldn't it be hilarious if the whole metoo campaign was found to be based on a lie

people in court can be bribed, while all people on social media can't be bribed, so the social media is the truth and nothing but the truth

while in court i don't really believe it goes that fair and square

I’m more on the side of he probably is guilty. It was supposed to be a well known thing around Hollywood.
However it is sensible to wait for the trial before going on social media and nailing your colours to the mast.
I agree with Bots about the trial by media.

At least some of the #MeToo accusations will either be outright false, or making mountains out of molehills. But I have no doubt Weinstein is a sleazy creep.
