I say that good looking people will have even more reason to be arrogant and self obsessed, now that obese people are on the increase and better looking people are becoming more of a rarity.

I also say that despite Jamie Oliver's efforts, lots of schools do tend to serve very nice pizza and chips etc, the garlic bread at my secondary school was particularly nice...
Eating such foods on a daily basis can have many negative effects.

And like you said, lack of exercise.
Technology is to blame im afraid, that and lack of parenting skills. Far too many parents are lazy and don't do anything with their kids, just go to the pub or sit around the house etc, thus setting bad examples for their children in the process.

What really irritates me is obese people who got themselves to such a weight out of pure laziness, greed and being irresponsible...then insist they have surgery because "Once the weight is off they'll make an effort"
Lol, the whole reason they were in that mess in the first place was due to them lacking the will and effort within them, it's slightly pathetic to me.

Genuine health problems only account for a tiny amount of obesity cases. Most obesity can be explained quite easily - eating too much junk food, and not being active enough.

I feel sorry for obese people who comfort eat due to quite influential reasons on their lives...

Such as depression, or feeling down about family situations, the death of a loved one, bullying etc. Or sometimes those people are just extremely lonely, can't seem to make friends and literally eat themselves into an even worse social life, whilst affecting their health and appearance.

I guess we could also blame food being more readily available these days, and the introduction of junk food in the past century...as to why more people are overweight these days.

People couldn't walk around the corner and pick up crisps and chocolate, or a massive cheeseburger and chips for next to nothing, a certain amount of years ago.

Trying to make children eat what they don't want to eat will lead to more and more weight gain.

Kids with withdrawal symptoms for chips and the like will eat both the jamie Oliver stuff at school feel unsatisfied then stuff them selves silly with chips and stuff on there way home.... I know I often run into gangs of them churning out of the local chippy..

Compulsion and control freakism from Governments always backfires sooner or later...

The only real way is to educate inform and persuade at all levels. The law and compulsion should be kept out of childrens lives when it comes to food intake.

Red's and I's children are fit and healthy, we dont let them sit around watching too much telly..... play is an important part of learning so if its a rainy day then they go upstairs to play together..... it stops them from being idol.

We dont often buy crisps, chocolate or sweets.... they get them as treats, yoghurts for pudding and always serve veg on their plates.

We only have chips once a week and pizza about once a month. All our children are fit and healthy..... not overweight or chubby.

They dont badger us for sugary fatty stuff because they know what the answer will be.

Of course we have biscuits but we make sure that they arent the ones that are crammed full of crap

Is it dangerous? Because if it isn't i don't know if i really need to. Its kindof fun being able to eat everything you want without gaining much.

Don't be afaraid. Did not mean to worry you. It's not dangerous. If you did have such a problem it is easily treated.

If you are feeling well in other respects then enjoy your eating and don't worry or you will lose weight.

To clarify in my case when I was in my early twntie I was well under weight for my age and height and could not put weight on. it turned out to be a little bit of thoriod over activity which was soon corrected with a short course of treatment. That was some 40 odd years ago so dont worry.......

The schools always says that they dont have much time to do proper meals, and when they go the senior school theres a canteen where you choose youself, which includes chips, pies pizzas etc.My eldest daughter at 11 was chubby, and my other daughter same age now is slim, and i both fed them the same food.

That makes me sick. I'm an ex-obese and I can't stand why the schools can't do proper meals. The School has to do more against that.
I take an example: I'm the president of an organisation against obesity at the Hospital and I see so more younger people than before, that's shocking.
It's really time to do something.

I think as educators of our children it is important that they educate them at every level, even about healthy eating. As a parent it is a struggle to get the balance right for your kids, without schools offering them junk to eat, so I am glad they are more aware of healthy eating and provide several options in schools now.

I think a lot of obesity in children can also be down to a lack of exercise. In this modern era of technology many children like to be playing on games etc.. and many parents see it as an easy way to keep their children from under their feet. They sit around far too much. I have always monitored my childrens time on video games etc.. and ensure they go out to play or take part in sports etc to keep them fit and healthy.
